I don't think they should...it always almost ends up in bloodshed...

To explain my point religion does more bad than good (all abrahamic ones do anyway)...

Look at several African countries in Africa: almost so far I think relgion has claimed several million lives.

Throughout history religion has killed billions in total...

Look at the fights between:

Jews & Christians
Muslims & Christians
Jews & Muslims

The wastful times trying to exterminate each other: The Crusades...where no mercy was given to women and children.

In America Christians in politics (the extremely Christian) happen to want to start or inflict fear in people by exclaiming that the "apocalypse in coming because their goverment is poorly equiped in the right moral way"... etc...etc...and all the rest of that balderdash...pish posh...

Don't get me wrong I do believe in a higher power but not from the abrahamic faiths perspective...or any other for that matter...

So is it rightly justified?

Is True God™ a company? Because the TM says so? Are you saying that religion is one (under a company)? - Strange...please explain...

I'm from the Muslim people..yes...but I want to get it straight...I am slowly turning atheist and want to question everything...even though I did get stabbed for being a Muslim that made me question my faith...

Call me anything you like, that is your opinion. But something as traumatic as that can make me feel nervous and paranoid. I did not say a couple of days I got stabbed I said I was afraid...the man who stabbed me did not ask me if I was Muslim, he just did it. It is because I have that "colour" of skin...

No nation will be free under any religious rule trying to impose it's will on the people.

Lets have some current day examples:

The Evangelical church and the Bush Administration. Holding back stem cell research, and rampantly anti gay, and starting the war in iraq because apparently god told him to do so.

Saudi Arabia. The punishment for adultery or simply being gay is death by stoning. This is barbaric, and derived directly from the political wing of islam.

The chinese government, who use "morals" as a justification for suppressing family activities and sex. Currently people can be arrested and "reeducated" in prison camps for stripping on webcam online. Once again, the state under the guidance of "morals" intereferes and strips people of their liberty.

The catholic church, insidious inside the polish government, is united with neo nazi factions in suppressing all public display of homosexuality, using legistation to suppress sex education about contraception and gays etc etc. Even the teletubbies falls victim to the government and is banned on the grounds of "promoting homosexuality."

Only a purely secular state will ever guarantee personal freedoms and privacy.

i think that its stupid to mix between religion and politics, but you need to remember something really important...
those who clarify what god say are humans. humans lay, make mistakes and manipulates others for their own good. what happened with the crusades? did you know that Jerusalem isn't even mentioned in the Koran (the Muslims' book)? there once was a sect of Jews that each explained to himself the laws in their book.
humans wont stop acting this way if there wasn't a religion, they will just find another excuse. i will give you for example Japan (although they are not the best example) each and every religion their is so together with the other. you can have a Christian wedding and a Buddhism funeral, so they changed their stupidity from religion to race. "Communism is a great method, just change the people", change the Communism to any other religion. Islam, Judaism and Christianity are all very beautiful, humaneness religions. its we that are stupids.
p.s
i am a non-religious person

If there was only one religion and only one sect within that religion and everybody in the world subscribed to the exact same beliefs and there were no way to discriminate against a person religiously, then mixing religion and government would work. However, that is never going to happen. There will always be people who have different religious beliefs. That will be especially true in the US. The US government is there to serve the citizens. If the laws are created by a religion then those laws will more than likely be crafted to support the views of that religion. These views will probably not be shared by all. In that case, the government will be only serving the people of the religion who control it. That is discrimination against the other religions.

No fight is justified: neither political, nor religious. I think human beings have made up more religions than there are happy children. FAITH should be one and only, because it was projected as unique. Our God is One; Our Savior Jesus Christ is also One; so I think no fight is justified.
Muslims call us Christians "kafaar" (non believers) because we are certain that in heavens there are only angels, not "hoories" (pretty girls with whom you can make love during the day and who become virgins again overnight).
Jews do not believe in Jesus either, because they say that He didn't come back to life again.
And those Christian extremists are worse than Muslims.
All wars started because of either resources or money. Oil, gold, hidden treasures etc... And the imminent Return of Our Lord Jesus is not a balderdash. See people being killed for nothing in Pakistan. You will understand.

Politics and religion have shed enough blood over the years, as seperate entities. By fusing them would be a disaster.

I don't think that religion should play a part in the life of politics, when a lot of people would be affected and you can guarantee that these religious types would interfere (as they do now) and that will be dangerous for humanity.

in most african nations people have been killed for racial and political reasons not religious
ex: somalia, rwanda, sierra leone, sudan, south africa, congo, and many more

i can't think of one that has had a war becuase of religion, but anyway these religions don't cause problems, people do. people try to spread their religion the wrong way, by force, and that causes wars and people not agreeing on politics. but the crusades are the only war b/w these groups that i can think of that only had to deal w/ religion, and your religion should be in every aspect of your life, including politics. becuase if you truely belive in it then you can't decide when it is right or wrong to believe.

ex: if you are a strict catholic and your church doesn't believe in abortion, and neither do you, then that should carry over into decisions that you make, political and social

You're wrong. Most of those fights are political, not religious. War is almost always because of land, economy, and society, not religion. Fights between these three groups deal with political actions. Religion and science can coexist [scientific theories mentioned in the Qur'an 14 centuries ago], so why can't politics and religion coexist? You cannot prove or disprove the other, so it is basically useless.

Religious faith is a personal thing, and should remain in the realms of the individual heart and mind. It should not in any way play a leading role in the institution of government and affairs of state.

I think you may be a troll as you seem to ask a lot of questions about religion, If religion is bad why are you Muslim? You said that you got stab for being a muslin a couple of days ago.......if this was not true then you should not lie about such serious issues.
