There are many things, important things, to be understood about John...where's Father Al when you need him?
Luke is the one to tell us about the child John, born to Zacharias and Elisabeth, foretold by the angel Gabriel. All the events Gabriel sticks his nose in go monumental.
Today's opinion fo John varies. Some believe he may have been an Essene, a group who split from the Temple, possibly responsible for the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Flavius Josephus ads weight to John when he discuses the ramifications of his execution by Herod.
All this, and the act of Baptism itself, a Holy cleansing, makes me say yes, I'm a fan of John.

John was sent to proclaim that the truth was coming in the flesh.
Yes, he was a good guy, that does not make him a likeable guy!
I am much to soft and spoiled to put on itchy clothing and eat locusts. Thankfully, God gave me different jobs to do in his name.
