I'm playing it safe. Pascal said that he'd rather do the hokey pokey and be wrong than not do the hokey pokey and be right.

It's about putting yourself in, putting your self out, shaking yourself all about, and turning yourself around.
It's a metaphor expressing the desire to be your own person in an crowd-driven, mass-media based world. But no matter how different you were than the last time, you find yourself trapped over and over again, merely marking time and mindlessly duplicating the crowd.
At the end, your put your entire self in, then put your entire self out, shaking it all about, to reflect the climatic angst of life, only to find that it makes no difference. After realizing that's what it's all about, the existential implications of returning to your monotonous life are all that saves you from inevitable death.
