Look at the Lucero LC200CE at www.musiciamsfriend.com. It's $149.99. You're not going to get a solid top for that price - so eventually you'll want something better. If you want to save up, look at the Alvarez website - they have really nice guitars in all price ranges.

I would stick with a plain acoustic guitar. Why your friends bought a classical to practice and learn with only to later buy an acoustic is silly. Just buy an acoustic, you can do a lot more things with acoustics and your songs sound fuller and not as gentle. Also I find acoustics easier to play, since classicals seem very big to me. Make sure though, no matter what, that your strings are light or very light because heavy strings are harder to play with and hurt your fingers. Have fun learning guitar, it is a great instrument.

Mitchells offer a pretty cheap, but okay sounding, line of classical style acoustic/electrics. However, brand/price is not the deciding factor of a guitar's quality or sound! You might stumble across a really cheap guitar that sounds awesome, or buy a $3000 that doesn't sound all that great. Check around smaller music stores that sell 2nd hand guitars, look in pawn shops, thrift stores, etc. before buying retail. And no matter what guitar you buy, play it first!

I use a Valencia electro-acoustic Nylon strung. As I live in UK i have no idea of prices where u are.Don't trust Brian M - I use Ovation guitars for concert work all the time, a 12 string and a steel strung six string. Best advice - go to ur local music shop, see what's in stock in ur price range. Play a few, or get someone to play them for u. Choose what u like best.

For 150 you cant really get a good guitar. So I would recommend that you save up at least 300 dollars. Also check out pawn shops they always have some good things and even better you can always get them to lower the price on it.If you are under 18 take your parent with you so they can do the bargaining.Do not buy any ovatian guitars trust me on this one.
