If your sister is 11 a main problem that ive run across is finger size. But personally, lessons never worked out for me. I went online and looked up guitar tabs to my favorite songs. There are tons of guitar tab websites out there and free lessons on how to read tablature. Here is the site with lessons on how to read tabs.

And here are some tab websites.

I completely agree with OJ, there's no easy way to learn the guitar, but a guitar teacher really helps more than anything. In particular, they identify what could become major faults when you are a novice. The internet's great but sometimes you still need that face to face interaction... and practice, practice and more practice :-)

Not a good idea. She needs proper lessons if she wants to play well. Bad habits are not picked up by the internet, they are by a teacher"!
I hate getting a new pupil who has been learning 'from the in ternet' or 'from a CD' as I always have to make them unlearn bad practice before they can go on.
It does make a difference. You can came to a full stop if the basics are not right!

She needs a book of chord shapes. there are plenty of child friendly books out there. She needs to pick a couple of easy chords (D A )and practise changing between them. She also needs to be aware that it will hurt her fingers at first, but the pain will go away after a while. Hope this helps
