I know someone whom I'd like to serve papers on, however, he is planning to go into the military. If I serve papers, this may prevent him entirely, from being able to go into the reserves. Does anyone know if Psychological testing is done in Basic Training? If there is, how sensitive is it? Basically, can a moron make it through. This man isn't too smart, but he passed his preliminary testing. Can anyone help me, please?

What kind of papers do you want to serve on this person?
Depending what they are could have a big impact on his entrance into the service. If it is medical (ie; Psychological) then it might be a good idea to bring it to the attention of the recruiter, who if they are smart enough will look into it more prior to enlisting this guy.

I retired from the AF after 20 years and spent 10 years as an AF Recruiter. I had an individual who I thought was a complete moron. Although he passed the ASVAB (barely), he qualified and made it through the Physical, Basic Training and 4 years of the Air Force.

I met up with him about 5 years ago and he was just finishing his Engineering Degree and was hired on by a company in San Antonio,TX. Yep, he was a complete moron. Boy, was I wrong!

If he passed the ASVAB then he is a lot smarter than you give him credit for. the military does not test for common since and there are a lot of service members that lack that but we manage to get them in line or put them out.
If you are serving him with papers to collect money for damages or other reasons it wont affect his entrance other than having a pending court case. The wise thing to do if he does owe you money is wait until he is done training and serve them then he will have more money to pay you and the army is big on making sure soldiers pay there bills. On the same note he does have free legal advice and will be able to afford a court case better. Bottom line is if he owes you money you have the right to collect but don't do something to hurt an other person just because you are mad at them at least he is doing something to better him self and you will be able to collect you debt easily.
With that said if it is something of a criminal matter and you filing charged will prevent him from joining it is better to File now and stop him from joining. We have enough people in the military that think it is the best way to run from what they have done in the past and not pay the consequences. If he is serious about service he can wait until he has been acquitted or otherwise disposed with out a felony.

If he passed the ASVAB with a sufficient score to join the military then he is not the moron. The US military does not enlist those who are properly called "moron".

He doesn't have to be a genius but then, the average person in America is just average.

Make sure your papers aren't just to screw with him. If he gets in the military, he has free lawyers and they are really good at protecting their servicemen. :-)
