Not really. i mean, if your cavities go really deep in your tooth and they have to drill by the root to remove it all, then you might feel a little pressure. They usually don' need to numb your gums unless the whole top row of your teeth are rotting or something. I had two also, and all they gave me was a little laughing gas...it doesn't make you laugh really, it just kinda mellows you out.

Unless you are crazy you will get your dentist to num your gums. When they do a filling they drill out all of the decayed tooth and then pack in the filling(filling part is not bad you'll just feel pressure no pain)When they drill that is when the discomfort begins if they push to hard the heat from the drill (some people can see smoke...i did)or even the vibration from the drill bit can cause discomfort!!The only way that i would go with no numbing would be if it was a small cavity on the very top of the tooth were the tooth is the thickest. If you go into the tooth and the roots will be exposed and very sensitive!!I hope this helped you with you up comming procedure!! : )

If the dentist does numb you, you shouldn't feel the filling at all. The worse pain will really just be the injection when you get the novocaine to numb you, however most dentists put an ointment on your gums so that you don't even feel the injection much. Trust me I am this biggest chicken when it comes to the dentist, but unfortunately I've had a few fillings and you will be OK.

Honestly - no! Its all about mind over matter. I used to be totally phobic about the dentist - found a good one and now I don't even have painkilling injections for fillings! Good luck - its never as bad as you think it will be.

depends on how deep your filling is. if its a small surface filling i got one of those done in 2 min and really it didnt hurt and my dentist didnt numb me. but if its a larger filling it takes maybe 20 min
