This question was inspired by Deke's brilliant observation that some Christians simultaneously assert that the US is a Christian nation and that society is going to hell in a handbasket

Stupid me: I should also give credit to Daughter of Isis's original question for helping inspire this. My bad, I'm sorry for not mentioning this:

A. all at once. each are said to be the problem.either not Christian enough at the same time they are and so are going to Hell or as good bad as they always have been or that society is deteriorating because it is not Christian enough even though it is. also not everyone in it is Christian even though Christianity plays a large part. but if they wanted to make it more Christian they could unite with Judaism as Christ appears to have come from that tradition and return it to it's roots. that leaves God who lives in separate houses on Earth as well as Heaven. soif God lives in Heaven why are buildings built for God below it on Earth.no society at least religious society is not deteriorating it just does not make sense

I guess I'm a little unclear on the definition of a Christian nation. Is Christianity the dominant faith? Yes. Does the government make a concerted effort to separate faith from religion and respect other religions? Yes.
As for the second part, it's going to hell for a myriad of reasons, attributing it to Christianity itself doesn't make any sense though. Perhaps some of the worst offenders claim that God is on their side, but I don't think their actions are reflective of Christian values.
So, letter M).

E. I would say E. The U.S. is not, and never has been a Christian nation. The closest it came was with the Puritans (the City on a hill) and that didn't last long. Also, our nation isn't detiorating, it is progressing in some ways and not in others. Our nation's history is not as bright and shining as we tend to remember.

H.) The US is *NOT* a Christian nation and society is not deteriorating. Period.
Although while society is not deteriorating, the government is in the biggest danger of collapse since the Civil War...worse than Hoover.

H is the closest for me. I do feel there are a lot of things wrong in society but not due to the US either being too Christian or not Christian enough. Lots of other factors there.

None of the above, but kinda B or F. (I don't think societies can go to hell, and I don't know what we're using as a definition of "Christian nation")

H, with modifications. It's not a Christian nation, and I wouldn't say society is going to hell either. The people who think we as a people are at something of a low point are quite ignorant of our history. The history of humanity goes in cycles. It will get better again, and it will get worse.

I) The US is divided between christians and atheists/immoralists/cultural marxists. Society has been going further down the toilet since the 60's and will continue to do so until the country is divided as it should be with the next big R which I hope is soon.
