Do all continental people have to tolerate this low,crappy level of policing in their countries,or is it just the unfortunate Portuguese?Do other Europeans think that our Police in the UK are better/worse than ours?

It would appear that the Portuguese police knew a lot more than they have ever let on......the inclusion of the UK police can only be speculation but they may have been called in to verify what they already knew...international police assistance and cooperation is not new...

I cannot help but think that the Portuguese policing of this case leaves a lot to be desired and must leave the UK police shaking their heads in disbelief at the clearly apparent lack of professionalism and direction, it's as though one is watching it unfold in slow motion with no urgency attached.
In Spain they say "Manyana" here in Cornwall we say "Dreckly" both mean the same 'tomorrow' or more specifically 'when I get round to it' what the Portuguese term is I don't know but I feel sure they have one and that it's usage is not limited to builders/plumbers etc.

Now that British Police are involved there may be more balanced and informative and even handed reporting on this case. All police are much the same at the end of the day, but tend to go easier on tourists.

I think the equipment available to our police is better, although I do feel this investigation leaves much to be desired
