CS3 is just too expensive for me right now. what will I be missing out on if I just purchase CS2? I need these programs to fix illustrations, make typeface and to build my website, so I need the programs to be able to work together. thanks

If you buy CS2, you can buy the upgrade for CS3. If not, you have to pay full price for CS3.

You might consider contacting your local University -- if you are a student (even in high school) you can often purchase Adobe products dirt cheap (~$30 or so) which is a great price compared to the normal retail value.

For me CS2 has sufficent tools do daily works & etc (just like your work requirements). I'll usually download the upgrades & etc free online to add on it.

CS3 hv. more features & plugins. Esp. the web bundle version which includes Macromedia Dreamweaver & etc now.
I'm sure you've known Adobe & Macromedia have joined forces.
If you've CS2 already, u can just upgrade CS3 for a sum of fee instead of buying the whole new CS3 package.
My friend's whose an avid Flash user said there's more features & more stable in Flash CS3 thn CS2. else it's usable nothing major.

If it's cost wise, no need to upgrade so fast.
U can wait for the price to drop.
Many ppl. I know are still sticking to CS2, there are no incompatibility issues.

CS3 is the higher upgrade so ofcourse it will be more expensive. It will have extra things or fixed things than CS2. But as for the basics, both will have them. I think buying CS2 will be fine, but if it was me, I'd buy the newest one.
