Lulu's mounting behaviour is a form of dominance. I would suggest that you get your son involved in Lulu's training, so that she doesn't see him as a subordinate.
He should do things like feed her and take her for walks and do some of the training. You need to elevate his status with Lulu. It might also help if he were to take her to an obedience class. It is a great way to bond and your son will definitely come out of the experience as the top dog and not as a playmate or subordinate to Lulu.

You have to laugh!
I suggest getting her fixed. You do not want this to become an obsessive thing. I also suggest long walks and simply closing the door. You may not be aware of this but most dogs cannot actually open a door.
Your dog is small and can be handled really easily. Be the pack leader and discipline your dog. Better still get your son to be the pack leader.

When a female dog mounts another animal, it normally shows that she is trying to be dominant towards the animal. She may be horny, she may not be. I always say getting a dog altered is a really good idea.

It's a heat cycle. Every dog does it unless it is spayed or neuterd. You have to get her fixed in order for her to stop. But yes, it is called a heat cycle.
