If you have the original HP Photosmart Software installed, open the Solution Center and there should be a button with an arrow that says Settings. Expand the menu and select scan picture settings. There is a menu at the bottom that says File Type. Just click on JPG and Voila!

If your software is different, there is another (albeit tedious) way of changing file formats. You can copy and paste into Paint and "Save As" a different file format.

Export the file from corel draw if u have corel draw in ur system. That is click file and then export, choose the file name, after exporting check on the file type drop down box, scroll to choose JPEG Bitmat format. Then follow d instruction by either reducing the resolution or leaving the default resolution click ok. Corel draw will automatically change file format to JPEG in another environment.

Both Irfanview and Xnview will allow you to save under a different file extension. Both are free.
