Why is it that many Muslims are mislead by shiia. The Shiia claim the split from Muslims came at the time of Prophet Muhammeds(SAW) death. When it did not happen or become a problem till Othmans death. Why is it so many Muslims do not know the real history of Islam but say what the shiia want. Please I beg you to learn Islamic History and get the facts straight. Learn who Abdulla Bin Sab'a is and find the truth..

I truly believe in Shia-Sunni unity. I am a Sunni but, like most Muslims, feel that there is a middle ground that we keep missing. Sunnis rely too heavily on Sunnah and opinions of medieval scholars than what's truly necessary. They either don't know or forget that "Sunnah" also included carried-over pre-Islamic law that early theologians felt no need to change. It was the "common law." A quick study will also show that Hadith compilers either could not do critical analysis or were not always sure themselves of the veracity of each Hadith. They worked with what was available. To make things worse, the ignorant among Muslims give equal weight to each Hadith, which is a terrible mistake.

Shiahs have lesser regard for Hadith and have successfully used logic in interpreting theology. However, they too assign super-human qualities to the family of the Prophet, not realizing that even Abu Jahal was from the family of the Prophet. Bloodline is no guarantee of moral uprightness.

If we can make a committment not to call ourselves "Shia" or "Sunni" [I know I am guilty of that already] , perhaps we can think of our differences more rationally and move towards unity.

umm actually it all started back at Mohamed (pbuh) death. When majority believed that Abu Baker should be named Governor or Caliph but the others believed that next Caliph should come from Mohamed (pbuh) line as in Ali ( his son in law). Of course back then Ali was alive so there was no fighting but when Ali got murdered Shia said that Sunni killed him and so the fighting still goes on.

In appealing to fact and reason with the devout your are fighting an uphill battle.

I prefer the work of Ibn Warraq over that of most any Muslim scholar.
