Be direct. Be specific. And just do it. Don't beat around the bush. Don't make excuses. Tell him it's over. Tell him why. Then drop him like a hot potato. Don't take his calls. Don't talk to him. Don't read his texts or emails. Let him go.

It sounds cruel, but in the long run you will be doing yourself AND him a favor. His feelings are going to be hurt, regardless of how you do it, so being direct makes the most sense. It will hurt for awhile, but your being direct and cutting him off will give him the hint that it is, indeed, done. Then he will be more willing and able to get on with his life himself. It didn't work out. It happens. You both need to move on.

Good luck!

To say in a nice manner, tell him that you need to be alone for a moment to cool down. Then tell him that both of you are still good friend during this period of time to cool down.

So when you are no longer interested to be with him again then just tell him that you feel that both of you can only be friends.Sy a sorry at the ending and an emotion will provide a better console to him. =/

In person if at all possible... Call him and say we need to meet.... wherever (as long as it's not YOUR home) but make sure he knows there is a time limit. This is essential! You could say something like "meet me at the park at 6 pm but I have to leave by 6:15. There is something we need to discuss." When you get together with him you simply say, "I'm sorry but this relationship is not working out." If you have a reason that you want to give, go ahead. But keep it as simple as possible. It gets so much more difficult the more you talk about it.

there is no easy way to tell your boyfriend that it is over.. it depends on how long you guys have been together... but i think that you should ust be honest with him.. i mean you could do it in person or you can do it over the phone.. but it all depends on what kind of relationship you have and how long you guys have been together... honesty is always the best way to go.. no matter how hard it is...

Be honest.
And don't hold back because you might hurt his feelings. In truth, you will hurt his feelings. But it is better to be honest about why you are breaking up with him than to lie.
Lying only complicates matters.
And if you are truthful, at least there won't be unanswered questions in his mind.

Hmm, say to him, Its over. We are breaking up. Time for us both to move on. Then quit taking his calls, quit going out with him, quit seeing him. Let him understand that you are serious. Just say, We are done.
