I was discharged from the Navy about 6 years ago. Unfortunately I received a general discharge (under honorable conditions) with an RE-4 reentry code. The narrative reason for separation was misconduct with an HKQ code. After 6 yrs now, I have graduated from college and I am interested in going back to the service. I wanted to join the army national guard and go to officer candidate school. And so, I was wondering if I can do this even though I wasn't honorably discharge from the Navy. I live in San Antonio, TX and any answers would be greatly appreciated.

The Recruiter is the correct source for information. A waiver can be granted for the RE4, and being a college grad will help. The Guard is actively recruiting and is in need of personnel.

Only a recruiter can completely evaluate the circumstances of your separation and your eligibility for enlistment. I suspect the RE-4 code would preclude enlistment, but you might as well sit down with a recruiter and ask to be sure.

it didn't used to be but the Army is desperate for people you might just get them to sign a waiver. It appears that you can; if you're under the age of 42 and since you've already been to BMT you don't have to go back to basic.

PROBABLY NOT. I got out with a honorable and they said the national guard was not taking anyone right now.

I don't know, but you can always ask. They are usually more strict when it comes to officers. But like I said, it doesn't hurt to ask.
