I am going to a church retreat for 4 days and would like the kids to feel welcome but not so hyper i have to chase them all day long and don't reap the benefits of going for myself!
We have meetings that are 2 hours long and I know that it is hard for kids to sit still for that long, so, I want them to stay in the meeting and not disturb anyone else also!

Goldfish crackers were a big hit when my kids were younger.
And, here is some more:
low fat crackers
bread sticks
pretzels
low and no fat rolls like bagels
baked chips
graham crackers
vanilla wafers
trail mix
rice cakes with fruit spread and peanut butter
air popped pop corn
In the fruit and vegetable groups:
apples
bananas
oranges and tangerines
grapes
pears
unsweetened fruit juices
tomato and vegetables juices
vegetable sticks
~~~Also, remember to check w/ parents as to whether or not their children have any allergies. . .very important to know. Good luck to you.
First off, a 10 year old doesn't know the different between whole wheat pasta from regular pasta. Try giving him some carrots or broccoli with Ranch Dressing. He'll love it. Feed him watermelon, pinapple, oranges, apples. You can also try putting food coloring believe it or not in certain foods to make it look more appealing and fun to him. Give him finger foods too. Such as some chicken tenders, not fried ones. The ones that are frozen and you have to cook. Put a little bit of low fat ketchup on the plate too.
You can't beat dried fruit...raisins, dried cranberries, peaches etf..popcorn is good too, if you have a hot air popcorn popper..if you don't I bet you know someone who does..kids won't care if it's cold. Put some in the little zip lock baggies...
I don't know that I would go with veggies...we all like to think they would eat the carrots, celery,,etc...but they rarely do...although there are exceptions....
dry cereal is also good..corn chex, rice chex..
Little crackers are good too...like the little round soup
crackers....or the low fat goldfish ones..
Throw in just a few mini marshmallows or a few m&ms into each bag and they will think it is more of a treat..
Maybe try and recruit some teenagers who are good with children. The teens can keep the children busy and entertained away from the meeting. maybe a childrens style Bible study.
I find children love cheerios and they are an excellent snack!
Why drag your children to a two hour meeting and expect them not to get bored and fussy. They probably won't take anything but a bad memory away.
These are the children that end up writing hate mail to God on this site.
Wise up.
yougurt or anything made with yougurt. Popcorn, granola bars (some are chewy), fruit, Raw veggies with cheese or ranch style or three cheese dressing. tuna fish sandwiches (appetizer size / bite size). Vienna sausage, corndogs, pizza bites, pickles, kolaches or chicken nuggets. I hope that something from this list help. Be Blessed.
i was going to suggest peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but you want a low fat sugar free snack. Try fruits. Not all are noisy
Apples. Sugar which occurs naturally in fruit is OK. It is refined sugar added to snacks which causes problems. Apples are a good source of potassium. Nuts are also nutritious. They contain fats, but that is OK, because they are mainly monounsaturated. Nuts are also a good source of protein and minerals such as magnesium.
Give them something minty. Seriously, peppermint helps you concentrate. I had a professor who would hand out lifesaver mints before every exam!
