He says some of the world's largest carbon polluters are funding a large public misinformation campaign about global warming being a non issue?

Do you believe him?

When the IPCC tells us that the temperature of the Earth has risen only 0.7 C in the last 150 years, coming out of the coldest period recorded by man, then just how much manipulation is needed?

Maybe there's a conspiracy to hide all those Category 5 hurricanes we were supposed to be having? Damn! Those people are powerful!

No Al Gore is manipulating your mind with the alleged global warming BS.You see Al Gore makes sure his life style ,large house , pollution belching airplanes and SUV's are not the problem ,YOU ARE. It is so sad to see so many people buy into the "Greatest Hoax" of the century. Come on people do the research , investigate real science. If indeed you are concerned about the environment then do as a real science teaches and look at all aspects of the environment and YOU see for your self.

Of course. This is nothing new. Look at tobacco companies and how they are still able to sell products. Companies and businesses have such a huge influence on news and information that they can do what ever they want. Carbon polluters know they are at risk since global warming is such an enormous issue nowadays. In order to save companies from losing profit and possibly getting restricted for their products, why not mislead us by investing so much persuading us to not believe in this phenomenon.

There is no money in proving AGW is false. Exxon/Mobil and other petroleum companies that used to fund this research have stopped due to bad publicity and the accusations about manipulation. The state department has pulled the plug on funds as well.

The major problem is that Mann (famous for his hockey stick graph) is on the board of every peer reviewed climate change publication and even general science publications like Nature so research has a hard time getting published.

Much of the work of getting anti AGW research out is now being done on a voluntary basis without funds where scientists have to take time off to do the work. It's getting tighter and tighter with each year but the number of scientists are growing since there are many scientists who are so concerned with the integrity of science that they push on so that there may be a real debate on AGW.

Start looking for info on individual scientists' websites.

Gore should know -- after all, he is one of the world's largest carbon polluters. Do some homework on the temperature chart they call the Hockey Stick which Gore used in his video and you'll find that it was conviently modified to delete the medieval warming period.

Is Al Gore manipulating climate data to create hysteria so that the U.S. will adopt a cap and trade program that will put money into his pocket?

Yes, Al Gore is right. This is a fairly well-known fact. Oil companies (Exxon Mobile in particular) fund "research" which "proves" that there's no link between human greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.

JunkScience.com is a perfect example. It was started by Phillip Morris tobacco company a while back to call peer-reviewed scientific papers which found a link between secondhand smoke and lung cancer "junk science" and to fund "research" which found no link between the two, calling it "sound science". Exxon Mobile now funds the site to do the same for global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.

It only makes sense - oil companies like Exxon have a ton to lose if we start requiring a greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Of course they're going to do whatever they can to save their skin.

As much of a pussy and hypocrite that al gore is, at least he is correct about a few things. The whole bush administration had "experts" who Im sure are biased, paid by oil companies and the bush family to do "research". When the whole Humans are responsible for climate change thing came out, the bush administration counter attacked with a new report that demonstrated we have almost nothing to do with the climate change.
Though they did acknowledge that we are going through one, they pinned no blame on human industrialization. "There is little to no evidence that burning fossil fuels has had a direct impact on our climate" within the same report it mentioned every possible natural cause they could come up with, even climate cycling, to explain the whole global warming epidemic.
To be fair, nature plays a big role in it, but to say humans have nothing to do with it is simple ignorance. We've come close or hit peak oil production (i cant remember honestly if it's happened or going to just happen) which means we've pumped a lot of oil from the earth and burned it for our consumption.

Recently fewer and fewer of the fossil fuel industry companies have been funding these groups. ExxonMobil was infamous for such funding (see news item below) and the Western Fuels Association has (and I think continues to) run several contrarian websites.

"Exxon, the world's largest publicly traded oil company by market value, long has been a lightning rod in the global-warming debate. Its top executives have openly questioned the scientific validity of claims that fossil-fuel emissions are warming the planet, and it has funded outside groups that have challenged such claims in language sometimes stronger than the company itself has used. Those actions have prompted criticism of the company by environmentalists and by Democrats in the U.S., who now control the Congress."

I don't believe anybody who throws statistics at me. All statistics are slanted toward the group in question, and are virtually meaningless.

I think global warming IS an issue. Just not as much of an issue as some people are making it out to be. It's NOT all OUR fault! It is, for the most part, a natural occurrence. I do grant you that as humans we AREN'T being good stewards of the earth as we are suppose to be. I know we are depleting too many of our natural resources and are throwing things into the atmosphere that shouldn't be there. I think the big special interest groups are trying to cover they butts and protect their industry when what they should be doing is changing their industry to meet the needs of the environment. We CAN make the things we need, we just have to cooperate and DO it!!!

He's citing a well known fact. They don't just water down the reports. The Administration has repeatedly set aside attempts by it's own scientific and regulatory bodies, frequently in violation of the law. The Supreme Court has so far sided with the scientists in reversing his decisions, but at a cost of years of additional pollution. The States have been bringing the lawsuits, as they must depend on the federal goverment for backing on the enforcement issues. This has been going on since Bush took office. It's pretty sad when the States have to take the EPA to the Supreme Court to get it to enforce the laws Congress has passed and funded. Not very good for the people who pay taxes. We're certainly not getting our money's worth!
