The contents of the blister are there to protect the area from further damage and are full of goodness that is reabsorbed into your body when the blister heals (not popping will not delay healing).

If you pop the blister your risk of infection is great which will delay the healing

DONT POP xx

Don't pop the blister the water in the blister is sterile and your body makes them to protect the burned or rubbed site. So try and leave it alone when it dries up on it's own then it has healed safely. It also keeps out bacteria which is important so the blister doesn't get infected I leave mine alone and have never had a problem. Good luck it's sort of a pain in winter when it happens but even then I try and leave it heal on it's own it's just harder because of all the footweare etc., but possible with some care. Never pop a blister. Good luck with healing and let me know how it goes.

Blisters are the bodies natural band-aids. they cushion and protect the underlying skin to avoid further friction. Burn blisters should not be popped as this sterile dressing helps prevent germs from entering the body. Generally speaking you should avoid popping any kind of blister as they will deflate on their own, but if you must, then wash thoroughly, apply an antibacterial cream, and cover with a light bandage. Never use butter or margarine on a burn blister, as it holds in the heat and is unsanitary as well. Cold water only.

Always pop them. Use a clean, sterilized needle to poke a small hole in the blister and drain all the liquid from it. Leave the loose skin as is. Disinfect the blister and cover it with a bandage. Clean it and change the bandage daily. It should begin to heal in about 3 days.

The reason we are told not to pop blisters is danger of infection. Pop it, wash it thoroughly with a disinfectant cleanser and keep it covered loosely.

lancing a blister with a thoroughly sterlized needle will prevent it bursting and losing its protective layer. Always disinfect the blister before and after. After draining the blister, leave the bubble of skin in place to protect the underlying layer of skin.

The blister forms a sterile seal over the area beneath it, so there is an argument for leaving it alone.
