You ask many conservative Christians why god forbade the eating of shrimp (Leviticus 11:9-12) and they will tell you that god was protecting the health of the tribes of Israel.
But…If god was concerned about human suffering and health one would think that it (god) would have mentioned to wash ones hands prior to aiding in the delivery of a child. This one simple commandment would have saved the suffering and death of huge number of women and infants. However the forbidding of eating shrimp, in all likelihood, saved a trivial number of lives since many cultures have consumed shrimp and shell fish for millennia with little affect on their health and welfare.
Yet, we have 45 verses in Leviticus 13 about skin spots. Supposedly this is about Leprosy however god once again fails and does not accurately diagnose the disease Leprosy. It seems like god wasn’t much more advanced than a bunch of bronze aged sheep herders. Isn’t it (god) supposed to be omniscient?
Seems a tad odd to me.

Grim, I like your style!
Why isn't the 11th commandment "Thou shalt washeth thine hands and be thou clean before ushering thy babe from the womb"?
And it doesn't mention Proactiv either. A glaring omission, if you ask me. :-)

He is speaking if CLEAN AND UNCLEAN FOOD for that time in the ages before Jesus. Remember there were sacrifices and many other things that Jesus changed and tells in the new testament. They might have been infested with something then, who knows, but HIM. We are not to question the word of the Bible. The old testament is the history before Jesus. Just as our history. He had a reason.

Ever thought that the skin spots and leprosy came from the eating of shrimp?
How does one contract diabetes or lupus what about the millions of birth defects, did you ever think that all of the diseases, (curses) that you see in epidemic numbers are from eating the unclean foods and sexual impurities that Yahweh tried to warn your dumb *** of?

there are many odd things in the bible, like if a woman gives birth to males she is unclean for 7 days but she is unclean for 14 days when females are born.
Yeah stupid I know, it seems God favours males over females. That is no it my God, my God sees no differential in humans and mankind.

And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food".
Genesis 1:29-30
The steam of meat meals darkens the spirit. One can hardly have virtue if one enjoys meat meals and feasts. In the earthly paradise there was no wine, no one sacrificed animals, and no one ate meat.
St Basil
All things of creation are children of the Father and thus brothers of man ... God wants us to help animals, if they need help. Every creature in distress has the same right to be protected.
St Francis of Assisi
