Human Weapon on History Channel is doing a show on Savate next week, and I found it interesting. Does anyone know anything about it or taken it before?

Boxe francaise or Savate was developed in the south of France by french sailors who sailed in the orient. It's kicks are best used with boots on, some of the fouettes or kicks are pretty sneaky and are thrown with a snap rather than the stiffed legged kicks found in Muay Thai.

i luv savate. when i used to fence it went well hand in hand (since savate is essentially the complement to fencing). its a unique form of kickboxing from france (ray also gave its correct name).id recommend it wth any weapon style as well as just a hand to hand style.

i've never taken it but from what i see from youtube and reading from wikipedia unlike muay thai using shin kicks they kick with their feet, no clinches, knees, or elbows so it kinda resembles american kickboxing(aka full contact karate) to me. they seem to have weaker kicks than thai boxers but they seem to have faster kicks though

pretty cool training techniques
