..against the Pilbara Stromatolite fossils..?

Spare us the worn out and false "the dating methods are flawed" retorts, as many independant dating techniques were used and corroborated, and the West Australian Pilbara region is already well documented for it's rare and extremely ancient geology, from the scientific studies behind researching the natrural resources of gold, iron, nickel, tin, uranium, oil and gas in and around the Pilbara region.

These fossils not only show that life was present 3.5 billion years ago, but also that several types of microbes were part of what is the earliest known ecosystem.

To shut this down without further investigation is not only willfully ignorant and a gross act denial, but it would be unfortunate for someone to never understand the fruits of modern mainstream science and cutting edge developments in this field.

vdagah, your reasoning is that of a child. If that's the total sum of your argument, then you seemingly accept "modern mainstream" scientific principles, disciplines, and descriptions of the natural world, as you now realise they are ever more refined, and todays science contains clear, unambigious and compelling evidence, which is verifiable..

And NO, previous whacky creationist claims of flawed scientific dating methods were never verified, in spite of many fruitless and bias creationist attempts to show as much..

Over to you..?

Luke S, you are only making uneducated guesses, and incorrect assumptions. Stromatolites are alive and well today in a few parts of the world, where shallow, warm and calm seas prevail..
I have seen them on the WA coast, and are world heritage listed.

Back to your books old chum..

The arguments are always the same...inaccurate dating techiniques, the infallibilty of the bible in all things, the lack of solid proof that these items were not just all part of the vast creation.

The thing that always leaves me a bit awed is just how limited God is by those who believe in this way. For a being that is all powerful, all knowing, all seeing, and limitless in what he can do, God seems to be very much constrained by those who limit him to what they believe to be true. Why could not a God of such power, for whom time would be of no consequence at all, create a world such as ours over a vast period of billions of years?

The idea that I find disturbing is the total limiting of God to our image in these situations...we were created in the image of God, not the other way around...but that seems to be the message for the last 2000 years or so. We have over millenia limited and wrestled God into a box of our own choosing, and when fact or at least supportable theory is presented, it is simply denied. This, I would think, would be worrying to some Christians with this view. To deny what could be God's truth simply because it does not fit in the box we have placed God in seems to be extremely risky...

Some think that the strombolites were formed near microbes originating near hydrothermal vents, but they (the 'fossils') were formed *between* volcanic and hydrothermal episodes, not during them. Hence, if the microbes were killed by the latter episode, then they could not have been formed during a similar former one. If the microbe theory falls down, another needs to replace it...

...and we see that some scientists dispute that claim they were formed by microbial life forms, arguing that chemical processes alone could have lead to the genesis of the unusual shaped rocks.

Howzat! Pack up your field notes, close down the lab, go home and pray, and tithe your money to the nearest fundamentalist sect instead.

I'm not a creationist btw.

Oh, so you do agree that before "many independent dating techniques were used and corroborated" that what we have being saying about dating methods being false is true. That scientists lied. Oh, and now they're telling the truth. Bologna.

None. The atheists are going to put up some false arguments to make them look dumb though. It will be entertaining.
