Yes, Dogs can suffer from depression just like people, they actually sell a doggie form of Prozac.

Dogs can get sad and lonely just like people. I notice in your posting that you said you play with him whenever you can. It sounds like maybe you work alot and feel like he's not getting enough attention. Could I suggest getting him a doggie friend? My husbadn and I only wanted one dog, but we finally realized that since we both worked, it wasn't fair to live Penny all by herself all day. Right away we noticed a change in her personality and she was in a better more playful mood. He even kept her young and more active, at least we believe that. But there are ways to introduce them so make sure you do it correctly. If you have questions on that you can feel free to email me.

Someone else mentioned that Bruno might not be feeling well. That may be the case as well. Keep an eye on his eating habits and his bathroom habits. Look for any changes in this. Check to see if he's feeling any pain. Press gently on his abdomen and see if you get a reaction. Just keep an eye on him in general. Only you will know if a vet visit is warranted.

One more thing...get him a couple of new toys. That always helps mine get over the regular doggie sad days.

Yes dogs do get sad. Take him on regular walks, play with him daily not just when you are bored with nothing else to do. My mom had a Dalmatian and the day she died (police officer killed in the line of duty)before any of us knew she died she started acting weird. When we got the call and all but myself left to go to the hospital because I had to get my daughter up from her nap the dog started whining. When my mom didn't come home that night she stood by the door and she stood by that door for 3 days and when she wasn't standing by the door she just looked pitiful. So yes they do get sad yes they can suffer depression. Spend more time with your dog if you cant find someone that can

Dogs can become sad and depressed form lack of exercise and human contact. They are pack animals and enjoy being a part of their human family. If they are home alone for long periods of time with no exercise, they get bored and lonely.

You can try having a friend, family member, or dog walker come by and walk your dog mid day. They also have doggie day cares that allow your dog to play with other dogs all day.

ya i think dogs have expressions and feeling, i have 1 puppy and 1 dog and we know if they did something wrong belle the dog sits in the bathtub slamming her tail and giving us her puppy eyes and reeses the puppy sits at the backyard door where we let them out. But maybe Bruno want more quality time with you maybe take him to the park or on walks , or car rides (my dogs love car rides) more often if or when you time for him and maybe he wants a friend to play with when gone. and about that sleeping the whole day i don't know what that is all about but maybe you should take him to the vet or something.hope i helped :)

I doubt he is sad in the true sense of the word, but rather he has entered full maturity as an adult and is doing what they do best.....resting....dogs who are "depressed" or "lonely" act out by virtue of frustration.....give him a few good pats on the head....for being a dog

Yes, dogs do get sad when you don't play with them too much or give them attention. Or when they're old, they don't seem as active. I'm sure they get sad though, and they also have an internal clock in them as in, they know when you are about to departure everyday. LIke: going to work, going to school, or just daily routines! =)

Of course dogs can get sad, but he may also be telling you that something is physically wrong and he doesn't feel well.
I'd get him checked by the vet to rule out a medical problem.

If the dog is not healthy as you stated it sleeps it becomes inactive and sad. Then you must talk to it give some medicines ofcourse from advice from a doctor feed him. if his stomach is ok he may be alright.
