"Jazzercise" or other "dancerobics". A lot of people enjoy them because they are fun and energizing. You can also go for a jog in the morning or in the middle of the day, depending on what's available. There's also swimming, walking, playing any sports or activities (basketball with friends or kids, etc), and many many other options.

As far a "domestic activities", most general cleaning or major reorganizing can give you a good workout. Vacuuming, scrubbing, etc. are very good especially. Moving (reorganizing) tables, couches, chairs, or any furniture can break a good sweat and be a good workout.

Personally, I like to have music on when I'm doing "workouts" like that. I know some people don't like to listen to music, but whenever I reorganize a room for any reason, I like to have music on to distract me.... it makes the time fly by so much better.

sex. well at least if you are the one working can burn a lot of calories. Playing door tag, where you ring a door bell or knock on a door then run can be interesting. or go to a mall and shoot a security guy with silly string and try to get away. The best thing to do is actual cardio. If you are not into the gym just try to do something active that you also find fun. Swimming is also the biggest way to burn calories but you need to watch what you eat more so then what you do to burn the calories. Just remember that coke you drink has 130 cal. in it that muffin from Starbucks has 300. It is about 80% of what you put in your body compared to the 20% of what you do to get rid of it.

swimming, taking your dog for a walk, running the vaccum, chasing the kids, yada yada yada.
Anything domestic that involvs movement can be made into a workout. Blast the radio and do some serious cleaning. All the bending and pushing and movement will burn calories. (dancing along to the music will help too)

Calories are fuel. Fuel requires oxygen to burn. Your cardiovascular system delivers oxygen to your muscles.

Higher heartrate = more oxygen = more calories burned.

People like to make themselves feel good by counting housework or child care as exercise. Truth is, its better than sitting on the couch, but not by a lot. If it doesn't get your heart rate up significantly for long periods of time, its not burning a lot of calories.

Any doubts, get a monitor and check for yourself. I used to think snow shovelling was a decent workout. One day last winter I wore my HRM while clearing a particularly heavy, wet snowfall just to see if I could count it as my workout for the day. Much to my surprise, I had to go at it like a madman to get above 120bpm, while my normal HR during a long ride or run is well above 140. I decided I could forego lifting that day, but still had to put in my time on the bike trainer.

Dancing around the house ALWAYS helps me. Play music that gets you pumped up. Like I will turn on "Maneater" by Nelly Furtado and just dance around the house like a crazy woman...It doesnt feel like you are working out, but it burns a lot of calories. TRY IT!
