"Baptism by fire" is a colloquial expression that means that you are introduced to a task without any prior training.

For example, my introduction to Java programming was a "baptism by fire"... i.e., I had to start a development project without even having learned the code syntax yet.

"Baptism of firer" is nothing to do with baptising or religion; it`s a term used to describe rookie soldiers going into battle for the first time and be fired upon by the enemy, hence, BAPTISM OF FIRE! FIRE meaning the shooting of a rifle or gun of any sort.
Quite simple really, take no notice of the religious answers, as usual, they are only made up for the sake of dramatic effect. And also those who are vulnerable or to scare people into believing their religion.
When religious bodies have to do that it only shows how desperate they are to fool people into thinking there are gods etc.
The term also became popular to describe something which someone had never done before, a colloquialism meaning `first time.`
Good luck

The Bible speaks of water baptism, Holy Spirit baptism, and baptism by fire. John the Baptist said point blank that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 13:11).

Read Psalm 50:1-6 or so. The idea for Christians and non-Christians alike is that we will all be baptised or tried by fire. Baptisim by fire is a judgement of God. For those that have no entered into a covenent (a covenent of blood, the shed blood of Jesus) you wilkl not be able to stand up to the Judgement and all that you have will be burned away. But with this covering only the wood hay and stubble will burn, leaving all the precious metals of gold silver and bronze, the good things that God was able to accomplish through you to be seen by all.

Fire is a purifier, and a strengthener. Fire purifies and refines gold and silver, buring away the dross or the impurities. Fire with regards to steel or iron when it is heated allws the maker to shape and forgeg us into His desired shape, He drops us in the water (the Holy Spirit) in order to strengthen us, this is called tempering. The cold water causes the hot stretched molocules of the metal to instantly contract and bind together.

A final analogy is clay, many clay pots or china cups are made and as long as they are clay they are of no use. a potter makes a vessle one is for common use, and one is for fine use on special occasions. but it matters not what the use is for, as they both must be shaped and molded into the desired shape and then placed in the fire to be hardened.

Throw a porciline cup and shape it and let it dry, same as a small earthen ware flower pot and let it dry. Turn them upside down and both will support a 5 lb weight. Then let them get wet again and the will loose their structural integrety. but take them and fire them and let them cool (or temper) and they will support the 5 lb weight wet or dry, cause the molocules of the cups have been stretched and then caused to compact together and become strong. Only a sharp crushing blow from the weight can defeat them now.

I didn't use a lot of scripture to support this info, cause I believe that in the creativity of man (God creation) we are evident of Gods plan. We the land, the trees, the mountians, this place we call earth is a testament of the Majesty and validity of God the Father, God The Son, and God the Holy Spirit, as the Bible teaches. (Romans Chapter 1)

I hope this info helps and study that Ps 50, it full us many lessons about the nature of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

God Bless

PS: Be careful of those Christians that pray for Gods fire to fall on them, I know what they mean, but in truth Gods fire is His wrath. His judgement. If we are excited about God, then simply ask for His Holy Spirit to be pored out on us. to Fill us and ask repeatedly cause if you're like me you're a leaky vessel, or at least you got a few cracks. God has a generous portion of Holy Spirit to give us. Amen.

Comes from the experience a new soldier has the first time he comes under hostile fire. Back before Kevlar, mobile armor, and other means of safely killing enemies without them getting a chance at spoiling your day.

"John (the baptist) answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:" (Lk.3:16, Matt. 3:11)

"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" (1 peter 1:7)

after the new birth, we will have trials & in having victory over these trials, we become stronger in the ways of God that He can better use us for His glory. our rewards will be at His 2nd coming.

For centuries, people have known to make hard metals stand up to punishment you heat it in fire and then cool suddenly in oil or water. The bond of molecules becomes closer, thus harder.
