So many young people today are alcoholics, is it because they're exposed to it always and from such a young age?

Shouldnt all alcohol adverts be stopped worldwide?

I had my first drink @ 13. that was 44 years ago. I drink once a week at most and never at home unless I have company over. I can't endorse a ban on advertising. I think alcoholism is a personal problem and should be addressed with education much like we do sex ed for kids.

19 YO. Being an alcoholic is a choice, yes even if it's in your genes. I don't think being exposed at a young age makes alcoholics, I think people make alcoholics. No alcohol advertisements should not be stopped, there is nothing wrong with drinking in moderation. Plus the beer ads are the funniest.

Growing up in an Italian family, I was given a small taste of wine (only), probably when I was old enough to hold the glass. And we did the same with our kids, and not an alcohol abuser in the bunch! My father's theory was...if it was available at home, you would not crave it and go crazy when out with friends or at a party. To this day; I enjoy a drink or two of beer, wine or liquor on occasion, but never get drunk. And, I think the alcohol industry has been doing a commendable job with TV ads, suggesting: drink only in moderation.

Well the first time I had alcohol was an accident and I honestly didn't know it was alcohol. My mom made what is called a Monster Toenail ( 5 different liquors, Pepsi, and milk). It looks exactly like chocolate milk. Well she went outside for something and I woke up to get a drink, it was just sitting on the table and I thought it was chocolate milk. Needless to say it didn't taste the same and I slept really well that night. I was 12.

I don't remember how old I was. But I was in junior high. The so many young people you talk about are generally those in the US. In other cultures alcohol is not so taboo so their is not as much of an allure. Alcohol can be used responsibly and it should be a parents job to educate their children. We can't blame advertising for everything.

16.

It is their choice to drink. Don't mistake alcoholics from binge drinkers. Binge drinkers drink to get wild and have reckless fun. Alcoholics drink to escape reality or suppress their negative emotions and depression. These are just general definitions.

And no alcohol adverts shouldnt be stopped worldwide.

i had my first sip of beer at a very young age...one of my uncles had a bottle of beer on a table, and i took a sip. i liked it...but my first drink was 14 or 15. i still drink beer and liquor, but i know how to handle mine. i dont get stupid drunk..when i get that buzz, im mellow. just because ppl start off young doesnt mean that they will become alcoholics. younger ppl drink because it seems cool, they are taking a risk in getting caught, then eventually they cant get enough of it.

My parents gave me a small glass of wine with our nightly dinner when I was about 6. On Sunday lunches my mother would allow me a small glass of wine with her when I was a bit older. I never sought out alcohol because it just wasn't taboo back then. It just wasn't a big deal to me to party on the weekend. I didn't actually get drunk until I was 18 and in college. I think it stems from my parents teaching me responsibility.
