when i first got it, it was working well. but now. when i fill up my tanks. the switch is on front tank. and it takes gas from the front and the back. and when it gets to about 3/4 tank in the rear. its stops taking gas from the rear. and of course its not supposed to because the switch is on the front. MY QUESTION IS: how do i fix this problem so that when the switch is on front. it takes from the front. and when the switch is on rear it takes from rear. not from both!? please help

It sounds like the switch is bad allowing both pumps to run, this truck does not use a selector valve of any kind. The way it works is the switch powers up the pump in the selected tank, the pumps have a series of check valves in them that makes the fuel return to the proper tank and to keep the fuel from pumping from one tank to the other.

Unhook the switch and re-wire it Or simply flip it upside down As far as only getting 1/4 of the gas from the rear - the pickup tube has probably came off from driving in harsh conditions. You will need to drop the tank - remove the fuel pump from the top of the tank and reconnect the pickup tube with a clamp It is probably just floating around in the tank

the switch is not bad. it is your rear tank fuel pump. i had to replace mine.with the dual tank they have dual fuel pumps.when you hit your swtich for the front tank it activates the fuel pump. replace the fuel pump in the rear tank and you are good to go

you need a new control valve, the fuel lines from each tank hook to it and it and when you flip the switch on the dash it changes what tank you draw from.ford had a recall on some of these, you should check with a dealer first before buying one
