I used to be Catholic too, but I ended up becoming generally spiritual. I don't believe that God is a person who controls the universe. Even your religion tells you that (we all have free will). The universe had natural laws which are not controlled. There is no God outside of the universe. Instead, I see the universe as sacred and containing "God" (for lack of a better word). In any case, enough about me. But thinking like this has helped me a great deal. In my way, everything that happens is a sign of something meaningful, something I must understand (like a message from God). It has helped me feel more connected. Anyway, the universe will not end, the world will not end. Nothing ever dies or ends, but it does change. I don't think any of us can totally predict how the Earth may change so much that humans don't live on it. But I don't believe in some guy coming here and ending the world. You should probe deeper into your spirituality and read more. There's a lot of stuff the Catholic church hides about its own background. My Catholic education just touched the surface. Read about people like St. Francis and you will find out the mystical side of Catholicism that all the money-making schools don't delve into (for one thing, the weirdo parents wouldn't stand for it). Most of the Catholics i know don't read enough. There is a lot of good in Catholicism if people would only find out about it instead of suscribing to the surface stuff that gets taught and sold to the mediocre millions. Anyway, my ultimate advice is to do your best everyday to be true to what you believe and always search for more meaning. That's the point of life.

The world will end someday. People have been predicting the day for thousands of years and so far, they've been wrong. 2012 is just a number that comes after 2011. The Mayas' calendar ended at 2012, but then again, we don't know why. For all we know, they had to leave the area or died out while they were still working on the calendar.

Remember that Christ tells us that we do not know the day or the hour when all things will come to an end. It could be 2012, it could be in a hundred thousand years, or it could be today. Live your life according to the morals and precepts you have learned through your Faith, and let God worry about the rest. If you worry incessantly about when the world will end, you will forget to live in it in the time you are given. Life is a gift; don't squander it worrying about when it may be taken away.

I'm catholic too and I've heard alot about 2012 and in some ways I tend to believe that something big will happen then, but honestly you can't live your life worrying about that, you have to live every day to the best of your ability and remember that death can come at any time, any day, you have to just get yourself together to the point that if you die tomorrow or next week you'll be OK. Prepare yourself now spiritually and don't worry about a future date on the calender, if you live til that date count your blessings and deal with it then, but right now prepare your soul for any occasion. Death can take many faces and can happen in the blink of an eye when you least expect it.

Well unless your some kind of a prophet the world probably is going to keep going way longer than 2012.
By the way the world for you is going to change after 2012 isn't it. Your going to be of the age that you can move out of your parents house and start living your own life.
Only God knows when the end is coming.........and if you are a believer like you say you are you know thats true!

You may or may not be right about feeling that the world will end in 2012, but you sure are right about great chastisements coming our way that will result in destruction and deaths. Our Lady of Fatima in 1917 said that if the Pope did not consecrate Russia to Her Immaculate Heart with the Catholic Bishops of the world, great troubles and wars would come our way from the hands of Communist Russia. Probably a third world war. We must petition the Pope to release the Third Secret and consecrate Russia a.s.a.p in order to avert these chastisements.
How can we prepare for this? Pray the daily Rosary(at least five decades everyday), wear the Brown Scapular of Carmel (get the first one blessed by a priest), and practice the First Saturday devotion. Keep yourself informed about the Fatima Secret and petition the Pope to consecrate Russia to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart. Go to the following website for more information on the Third Secret and the Consecration:

If you can make time and watch the following documentary you will get what I'm talking about in a nutshell.

While we can know that Christ's Second Coming is imminent, the timing of it is not for us to know.
What's more, seeking the time of the Second Coming constitutes sin because it goes against what Scripture has to tell us about the Second Coming of Christ.
Matt. 24:36 - many sects try to predict the coming of Christ. But Jesus says, "no one but the Father knows the day and the hour." The sects that try to predict Christ's coming ignore these words.
Matt. 24:36 - we should also note that Jesus’ statement does not mean than Jesus does not know the day of His Second Coming. Jesus does know, because He is God. With this statement, Jesus explains that He chose to know by His human knowledge only that which He wanted to know for His mission of salvation. In other words, Jesus could have chosen not to know everything by His own human knowledge, but Jesus knew everything in His human knowledge through its hypostatic union to His eternal and infinite divine knowledge.
Matt. 24:44 – Jesus warns us that the Son of Man is coming at an hour we do not expect.
Matt. 25:13 – Jesus says “watch therefore, and be prepared, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
Mark 13:35-37 – Jesus says “watch because you do not know when the Master of the House will come - watch!”
Luke 12:46 - the Master will come on a day and at an hour when He is not expected.
Acts 1:7 - Jesus says it is not for us to know the times or seasons which the Father has fixed by His own authority.
1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10; Rev. 3:3 - the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
James 5:7 - be patient until the coming of the Lord. Those who try to predict disregard this inspired teaching.
Rev. 22:20 - Jesus says He is coming soon, but He does not tell us when He is coming. Because Jesus says we do not know the day or the hour and will be surprised at His coming, it is silly, and disobedient, for people and groups to predict His coming. We, instead, need to be about the business of growing in holiness, so that we are prepared for our Lord when He comes again, no matter when that will be.
We have no control over the Second Coming. It's going to happen when God wants it to happen, and there is nothing any of us can do to influence any changes in this timing.
All you need to do is be ready for the Second Coming, whenever it happens.
In my opinion, part of being ready is knowing you are not going to miss this world if you should actually bear witness to the Second Coming when it happens.
Bigger and better things await us is Heaven than what this physical temporal realm has to offer.

You are in good company.
Many people have had the feeling that the world will end on this date or that date over the past 2,000 years.
I would not worry about it too much.
Jesus tells us that it is not for us to know the time but that we should always be ready to meet our maker:
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
With love in Christ.

I am not a date setter. The world won't really end, but Jesus is coming back, and then He will rule and reign for 1000 years. I believe some of the same things will go on., so you will have your chance to graduate. Maybe Jesus will give the address. How awesome this would be !!

THat's nothing! The Baptist church I was going to has everyone convinced it's any second now! I used to worry about those things but I don't anymore. Part of it is age. Part of it is changing religions. ( I'm not telling you to do that) I'm saying this obsession will pass. You'll stop worrying once you realize there's nothing you can do about it.Just live and try to find your way in life. That's all.
