There is NO true religion, which is why they are always fighting over whose ignorance should be given priority.

I can say that my religion is the one true religion but I know someone else will say "no my religion is the one true religion". People believe what they want to believe. That's how sects and divisions are formed. So it's really tough to just say that my religion is the one true religion and vice versa without an arguement being formed.

If you're asking, is there one religion that is *factually true* in all it's particulars, then....no.

If you're asking, is there one religion that's true in terms of presenting universally-accepted religious insight, then...no.

Can you step outside thinking that anyone's holy book is the ultimate truth for a moment and consider how religions started?

Religions came about as a way to explain the world, how people fit into it, how to survive in it, why there is death, what happens after we die, etc.

And those circumstances were different for different peoples.

If you lived in an environment that allowed for very little wiggle room for survival, then your idea of God would be different than the idea of God that the people living in a very temperate climate that had lots of uncultivated food available.

And then there is the poetic imagination of the people themselves, which is very different from culture to culture.

Plus, most Gods started out as Gods of place - the spirits of the local water supply, the weather of the region, the local flora and fauna, etc, and those also were quite different from place to place.

Now , the poetic imagination of various peoples (also different from place to place and culture to culture), results in different kinds of heroes and villains, and different tests they go through, so you have different teaching stories. The "moral of the story" will be very different in different environments..

Last, add a bit of the rules to live by (which will largely be determined by the environment), shake well, and viola! you have a religion!

So it's actually quite logical that there would be different types of religions for different peoples.

And each is "true" in that it has validity for the people who came up with it, because it grew up in the same environment that those people did..

As for the conflicts...well, it comes down to "We're us, and you're not, so we're right and you're wrong". It's really no more sophisticated than that. And the same is true of nationalism.

Yes. It is the one God approves. Obviously, the only thing that matters is His approval as He is the only One who can give us life. No man can so man's opinion is worthless.

There are many false religions, all claiming to be Christian or claiming it does not matter, just be a "good person". Since God shows order in everything He does, is this true? No. Why are they here? Satan is the great deceiver. His specialty is confusion. Obviously he doesn't want as many people as possible to worship the true God. So confuse the issue. Put as many stumbling blocks as possible, each with a dim light to confuse people. How can you tell the right one?

The simplest way is to ask each a question the true religion of God would know. They would have to have a close relationship with God and His son, Jesus. They would know God's Word, the Bible. All of us have a personal name. Some more than one; but each have a name only those close to us know. Ask them what God's name is. If they say God, leave. God is a title, not a name. If they say Jesus, leave. Jesus, himself said he was his Father's son, not Him. If they turn to Psalms 83:18 and show you "Jehovah", stay. They not only know but prove from the Bible what they say.

All Religious Systems become perverted. The purpose of religion isn't control but that's what it is used for.

The true definition of religion is found in James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The TRUTH, that God is and that at the foundation of the world he planned to come to earth as a man to save man from sin, has been obscured through false religion throughout the ages by the enemy of God and man's souls.

Everyone is convinced they've got the "one true religion", don't they? And nobody has any proof of any of them. But many are willing to kill or die for it. So we've got dozens of "one true religions", all at each other's throats. I'm not optimistic about the future of mankind.

I believe there is only one true religion. There are many religions out of selfishness. Someone doesn't want to abide by certain rules; the religion they are following does fit their current lifestyle; whatever the case may be. But one thing is for certain: we'll all find out in the end when it's too late for many of us.

Religion can come down to the interpretation of whatever religious book you read. Everyone can interpret things differently and decide to create a church or religion based on their beliefs. As for conflicts it may come down to "my god is stronger than your god and to prove it we will fight"
