In my science class, we have watched both movies, and both have really strong facts.

So, what is causing global warming?

Global warming is a common fact as well as Global cooling. The Earth goes through periods of warming and cooling and have done so for thousands of years. This is media hype. My cousin is a scientist and studies this, and most scientists and educated people do not believe it. PS; Al Gore is not a climatologist either.

Both An Inconvenient Truth and The Great Global Warming Swindle are propaganda pieces that do little to elucidate the science behind the theory. I found AIT slightly more honest than Swindle simply because the producers didn't feel a need to actually fabricate or distort data to support any of their points.

But don't take my word for it, research the claims made by each and see which one stands up better to scrutiny. That's what science is all about, after all.

I would rather say both are extremed and biased positions and are not directly made by any leading scientist. Both are politicized or at least very oriented.

If you just read the biography of the producer of TGGWS (Global Warming Swindle) you will see how not very reputable he is.
I also strongly advise you to read (just google or wikipedia research) his answers to scientists.

Both have facts lacking reputable sources (which as a scientist is not acceptable).

I often propose to people to look at unbiased scientifical work from scientists OUTSIDE the US which are of very high level (Japanese and Indians) and are outside the US bipartisan debate. And most of them quite clear and unanimous on a lot of points.

I have seen both movies and I think that the Global warming swindle movie is the more accurate.

The chart that Gore uses to drive his point home about the connection between CO2 and Global Warming was made by a scientist who says that Gore was reading the data backwards.

The only side who even wants serious debate on the issue is the Natural Global Warming side. The Alarmists, always try to crush debate with name calling and accusations of relationships to the Oil Industry.

I trust my instincts in such cases.

There is no "debate" about global warming. Nor about its human causes. "An Inconvenient Truth" presents facts--and you should take it seriously. But the two movies aren not comparable--the "Swindle" movie is not presenting sciencie, it is presenting lies.

If your teacher wasted your time showing the "Swindle" propaganda piece--whas he/she honest enough to tell you that it was misinformation paid for by the oil companies? If not,, your teacher should be fired.

An Inconvenient Truth exaggerates things a little bit and has a few minor errors, but the science behind it overall is very accurate:

"The nation's top climate scientists are giving An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore's documentary on global warming, five stars for accuracy."

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/2006-06-27-gore-science-truth_x.htm

The Swindle, on the other hand, is EXTREMELY inaccurate.

"So, in summary, there are claims that old superseded data is used and highlighted, that the latest and most up-to-date data and scientific opinion is ignored, that incorrect conclusions are drawn, that statements are made without attribution, and that at least one researcher's views have been edited and placed in a way misrepresenting the point he was trying to make. These are just a few of the charges that can be found against the film. And this is the basis for a supposed swindle of massive proportions."

Bottom line is that scientists have concluded that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming:

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is the only scientific society that officially rejects global warming. and since they are obvious proponents for PETROLEUM which is a major contributor to green house gases, I'd say they have an agenda.

Does it really matter ??? I have not seen either and the bottom line is, it is time to produce clean energy. At any cost. Man has become an infestation on this planet and greed seems to be his greatest motivation. The wealthiest and the most powerful need to lead not corrupt. Let us stop the desecration if not for any other reason than just because. Impeach Bush/Cheney.

Well..

AL Gore plans to make millions... maybe billions for himself with his carbon credits scheme.

And... he's one of the worst examples of wasting energy in the US.

So he obviously doesn't believe his own film.

Makes it pretty hard to think that his film is anything but propoganda... Scare tactics so you will give your money to him.
