It depends on the City and Country you are flying from. Different Airlines have different prices in, to and from different countries, depending on the amount of competition. A popular route that has many airlines flying it, will get you a very cheap ticket. However, a route that is only flown by two or three airlines will be expensive as the competition is minimal. Also, regardless of where you are flying to, unless it's the Middle East or Far East, you will pay sky high prices for flights in December and January. During December / January, flights to the Middle East, Asia and Africa are cheap but the Americas, Australasia and Europe are expensive. September / October can be cheap for Europe, the Americas and Australasia. Get the drift?

The most expansive by far is sidestep.com. It will sort the flights and offer a link for purchase from whatever firm is offering the price.
