My husband has said many times that some of the things I make are good enough to serve in a restaurant. My specialities are Italian food and baked goods. My Mom taught me to bake cookies when I was 8 so I've got nearly 30 years experience. I'd never open a restaurant (too much work) but I love whipping up delicious food for guests.

My friends and family already knew I owned a restaurant for almost 9 years. But when I do cook for them, they're amazed at how good everything is and ask for the recipe. (Duh, I've done this for years!) So I consider myself a good cook. Better than some, worse than some. It all averages out. As long as people give me compliments and have seconds, that's a sign that I must still be good.

Yes, I have cooked professionally at different times of my life. Everyone seems to enjoy what I do, the biggest compliment is when someone says, "Can I have the recipe for this?" one of the most important aspects to being a good chef is starting with the BEST & FRESHEST ingredients available.

Many of my friends have actually suggested this! I love cooking and make everything from scratch, and I enjoy trying a variety of ethnic cuisines. I have about 500 cookery books, not counting magazines and loads of recipes downloaded from the web.
