There are a extensive style of parallels between the bible and Greek mythology for considered one of two motives. a million. Biblical mythology is only copied from modern myths modern interior the geographical section the Bible replaced into built, with a sparkling interpretation given as a manner to grant means to a distinctive group of persons. 2. The Bible is the genuine description of activities that have been misunderstood by potential of persons, explaining why they are comparable (ie if there replaced right into a conflict in Heaven between stable and undesirable angels, then the Greeks misunderstood this using fact the conflict between the Titans and Olympians). Take your %. which.

I think many of these parallels are due to the overactive imaginations of skeptics of the bible. If you want to make a case, do a side by side comparison of a passage from a mythological source (one that is older than the bible- and make it a citation from the original literature) and the verses in the bible you believe they are similar to. I have yet to see a skeptic do this and I have to wonder why not if they really believe that the parallels are really that unmistakable.

just because mythology uses these terms does not make the Bible a myth- did you ever think that maybe mythology is trying to negate the truth of God? You can look at this in another way except that the bible is a myth too. Hercules, is paralleled with Jesus- you have got to be kidding me. Hercules never existed, because there is only one God. And even if he did, he died and never rose from the dead like Jesus, or was able to save anyone from sin. You can talk all you want about myth and the Bible- however one day you too will know the truth, and I pray it is not too late. Jesus will return!!

I find it interesting that AdoreHim thinks mythology is there to negate God. My sister, a fundamentalist Christian, believes that Greek mythology proves the Bible is true, that the Greeks knew the story but got the details mixed up.

Also, many of Jesus's teachings parallel similar lessons in Eastern culture, the Noah's Arc story has many similar stories in the same Mesopotamian region, and Jesus Christ is believed to either be inspired by the Zoroastrian messiah (the Saoshyant) or Krishna.

There are parallels between all mythologies and all religions. Try reading Carl Jung or Joseph Campbell. There's a whole academic discipline devoted to this topic.

because the Bible was translated from both the Greek and Hebrew combined
I think both Judaism and Geek mythology are over 4000 years old, different concepts, same ideas.

In a word: Paul.
He's who spliced the Sacrificial God-Man into his new religion, which was only loosely based on Judaism (because his understanding of Judaism was pretty darned superficial).

We point those out to them all the time but they only claim the difference is Jesus died and was resurrected which ignores all the other gods and goddesses who did the same thing. And the divinity is a retelling also but they will never look and see the evidence.
