Christians proportion the Jewish theory that a prophet is a individual who speaks for God, interior the call of God, and who contains God's message to others. some Christian denominations coach that a individual who gets a private message no longer meant for the physique of believers (the place such an journey is credited in any respect) should not be termed a prophet. The reception of a message is termed revelation; the delivery of the message is termed prophecy. For Christians the authenticity of a prophet is judged as Jesus pronounced that one might desire to choose a prophet, by potential of his culmination (Gospel of Matthew 7) and by potential of checking despite if his predictions come genuine. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 is composed of countless warnings approximately fake prophets and is rather specific regarding the try of despite if a prophet is genuine or fake. A fake prophet is seen to be somebody who's purposely attempting to lie to, or is delusional, or is under the impression of devil. Christians understand that any one they supply thought to prophetic continues to be human and fallible, and could make incorrect judgements, have incorrect very own ideals or critiques, and sin sometimes; the human traits of a prophet are autonomous of the message God has given him and don't negate the validity of his prophecies. despite the fact that, some Christians believe the minimum standards of a genuine prophet might properly be summarized as follows: (a million) sparkling (no longer obscure) prophecies (2) a hundred% accuracy in prophesying (i.e. one fake prophecy is all it takes to disqualify them as a prophet), and (3) might desire to no longer contradict the Bible. I easily have the comparable expertise which you have. My expertise is that once Jesus there have been not greater prophets as we've been given the Holy Spirit to steer us or supply us clearity and Jesus is our mediator. while a individual is Prophesying, as long as he or she is coaching or preaching the written observe of God that is prophesying yet does no longer mean they're a prophet. A prophet will talk for God. Prophesying is talking the already written observe of God.

1. Not everything God said was accepted carte blanche. The prophets often complained or were stubborn. Perhaps the best, but not only, example is Jonah who traveled in the opposite direction God had ordered. Peter questioned Jesus' prediction that the disciples would all run from Him. There are other examples, but let's leave it at that.
2. People's ideas today are scrutinized for two reasons. The first is that no one else is God. God is God alone. Everyone else's statements are up to debate and must be weighed when viewed through the light of Scripture. The second is that everything today is under scrutiny. The ethic of 50 years ago is frankly laughable to many people today.

A few people in the past two millenia discovered that the authorities were in fact wrong..... proveably so....
If you're lied to enough, you get into the habit of looking for lies.
Prove authority is wrong enough times, and scepticism begins to become the norm.
Quite simple really.
Two thousand years ago the very concept of questioning things put forth by those in authority hadn't even developed yet. Those capable of it were few and far between, and usually ended up getting killed for it (e.g. Jesus).

You obviously haven't read the Bible, so you don't know that what you're asking is completely wrong.
I think the best, and first example in the Bible of people not listening is the Lord speaking to Moses, and Pharaoh not believing it. In fact, a lot of people didn't believe Moses.
They didn't believe the prophets. God spoke to Jonah, and he ran away.
God spoke to Jesus, and people didn't believe him.
In fact, there are probably more example of people NOT believing the word of God in the Bible than people who accept it.
This is one reason why the Bible is so important today.

It says that when God manifest his Holy spirit on the Apostles in the temple that it was the end of visible works and miracles. I think that now days we have to walk and live by faith...not by site nor by power etc. Read about the Holy Spirit manifesting in the temple.

Have you ever been spoken to by God? You see, it is hard to believe all that stuff based on faith, if someone says it is raining outside, you walk over and look out the window, then say, "yep" if that same person says god is in heaven watching over us all, you simply say thats right, not questioning weather he/she is or is not. WHY? And if that were true, that god was watching over us, why then are the priests molesting children and not being punished or stopped by god, your god, if he does exist, has given up on all mankind and left us to fend for ourselves.

I don't know. I think it's because most of us haven't had the experience of actually physically hearing God speak to us.
I know I haven't. I do think that he's answered my prayers many times throughout life, but has He ever said - in a voice I could hear with my ears "Melissa, This is God, Listen Up..." No.
