I live near Virginia Beach and the beach water is really warm. Is that a bad sign of global warming?

It depends on the normal temperature of the water. If the water has been cold for the past several years, then it may be the effects of climate change. There may also be other reasons, though, that can effect the beach water. It depends on the amount of rain, intensity of the heat, and how large the water area is. You will have to take this into account if you are to find the real reason, but the most likely cause is climate change. For anyone who watches the news regularly, you can tell that it is real, unfortunately :( But you will never really know, and that's what is interesting :)

It is usually cold there or has it always been warm? It it always has been warm, the that is just normal. There are plenty of places in the world where the ocean is always very warm normally. But if it has always been cold and now is suddenly warm, that would be different. Maybe indicating a shift in currents or something.
