I was christened into the Church of England as a baby. I resent it greatly, and want to know if there is any way to get this officially rescinded? It's not my religion.

Sorry, I didn't make my point well. I have a given Christian name and I'm legally stuck with it because it was given to me by a religious person. Fuzzy you're absolutely right but being stuck with a Christian name denominates me as one of that sect. And don't say, you can call yourself what you like, because on a legal document you can't.

Since baptism is personal and is "an appeal of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (ACV) --

-- it should be obvious to everybody that infants are incapable of complying and therefore must not be baptized. These people are replacing the Christian tradition with man-made ones and invalidating the word of God.

The denominations that do this then are engaging in empty and valueless tradition. Your baptism has no validity in God's eyes. In his eyes you were never baptized!

Thus you do not need to fret about this except perhaps to try to forget that it occurred. It is as good as a Zero dollar check somebody writes you.

I was baptised and confirmed as a Lutheran. I have now been an atheist for the last 20 years.

So, I consider myself un-baptised. I believe baptism to be a silly rite in an old superstition. I don't need another silly rite to undo it.

Now, if you're talking about getting your name removed from the records, that's more difficult. You'll have to go through their beurocracy to get that done. Mormons will put you on their books after your dead. Many of the statistics for various religions are skewed because of faulty names on their books.

Being christened as a baby does not mean you are borned again. You are probably not saved and Jesus Christ is not your Savior and Lord. Spiritually, there is nothing to be undone.

I don't know. I got "confirmed" as an adult (I was in love with a minister and had temorarily convinced myself that I could believe the Jesus thing) and I really regret it. I feel like I lied to God... who I do believe in. I think it's between you and your deity.

make up a ritual yourself, perhaps a mud bath with someone saying the baptism backwards.

Why does it bother so much if you dont believe in it, even if you could it would just be a pointless, attention seeking waste of time.

the solution to becoming un-baptised is very simple. just choose another religion....by doing that you instantly become un-baptised. and you can quite legitimately declare yourself "un-baptised".....simple as that. Happy un-baptism....

Official?

It is only "official" to them, and their opinions aren't worth crap.... frankly.

If you're that fussed about it.... go to a Black Mass or something. If that doesn't undo it, nothing will.
