What I heard is if you could get a charity license, you could run some tournaments (probably not cash game) as a way to raise money and as long as certain percentage of the proceeds goes to the charity, it is 100% legal.

Even if you tried to do it as a charity, it would have to be not for profit, so you can't make money off of it. Even if you live in Nevada, it's not exactly easy to obtain a gaming license for anything but slots and video poker.

You could try opening a bar (with pool tables) or pool hall, and having unadvertised poker in a back room or something and hope you do not get caught. Pool halls also have pool tournaments all the time. You could set it up so it's always tournaments, and if the Law asked, you were playing poker with fake chips while waiting for the pool tournament to start, so having a prize pool would not be suspicious. And the tournament entry fee (the $5 in a $50+$5 tourney) would be the green fees for the table time.

You could but it would be illegal and have to be run totally on the hush-hush and would entail all of the cliche things like bribing cops, posting bouncers, surviving busts, tracking your dealers, watching for scams, etc. Find a movie called "Boiler Room" and you'll see what I mean.
If you're in a decent sized town I guarantee you that someone (or several someones) are already running private card rooms. Ask them about it.
You could set up a private "club" but they are still watched by the city and have to be licensed and what not and it would be officially barred from running card games, but many clubs get away with it for the reasons mentioned above.

Probably not. You're trying to open a casino which is illegal in most states. If you live in Nevada, go for it, but you'll need to contact the state gaming commission first and probably obtain a license.
