It doesnt matter what any of us think, including me. IT is only what God says is true We are to tithe to our local churches, and then if we want we can give money to other ministries , our choice BUt the tithe goes to our local churhc, if we have one. But, I also say this , its Biblica. If you do not think your church is doing correct in the money it spends, it is time for you to find another church or start one of your own. BUt tithing is required, not merely a suggestion. And yes they will be held accountible for how they spend the tithe we arent to take on that responsability. YEt if a church is not truly representing God, then its a false church, and we need to flee. Giving money overseas can be a fine thing, but we also find that half of it gets to where it should go, I have heard this from ppl in top organiztions that admitted just that. Most is sorted thru and kept before it leaves here, let alone once it arrives overseas> If God leads us to give overseas, so be it. But, I also know after beginning two homeless ministries myself, that there is so much needed right here where we live, in every town and every state. Disabled ppl, seniors, and so many children, that just break your heart. I did see drugs was a huge part of why they are homless, and alcohol abuse, and mental illness, all play a huge part, but still not the fault of their children, and even to them that dont know how they got like that, we arent to judge, but have the compassion of Jesus Christ. When we bless others, HE will surely bless us, but thats not why we do it. We do it as that is how God does things and we are to follow Jesus as our perfect example. Much on the streets was not from any of the above mentioned things. Much of it was just ppl having one too many bad breaks in life, as illness, loss of job, divorce, whatever, and they needed help too. What would Jesus do is always the way we know how to do things. huh? YEP.
Yes, use your money for God, But if your church wont do as God says and use the money wisely, you must leave that church. Find one who will or begin your own. We do attend church and we tithe, but at the same time, we know the decpetion coming into all churches in these last days. GOd wants us to unify together in truth and in love and stay in churches as long as we can, but one day we will all be called out, as none will be left preaching truth. Each must hear from God about when their time to leave is.
BUt, if you cant trust your church, you are in the wrong place. W e attended a church for awhile where it seemed perfect at first, but we learned there is absolutely no outreach, none. Just about praise and worship, which was awesome, but God gave us many commands, not just to worship and praise. Unless a church will do what God says, all of it, it is false religion and run to the nearest exist, Find one that is truly Gods church and if you cant find one, start your own. There are many that wont hear full truth, but there are so many that truly hunger for truth and have left church because it is hard to still find it there. These folks welcome a church speaking only Gods full gospel truths. God bless you.

Normally the tithe went to the store house so there would be plenty. In more modern times this has become the local church.
The Bible does say something about (I think the 7th year), giving your tithe to the poor. I have heard some teaching that says that this doesn't count now since the government has welfare programs, and that the church doesn't do that. I believe if the church had done what it was to do, and that the people tithed, then money wouldn't be a problem. If you don't like what your church does with the money, you should find a different church. If you are in the US and your church is tax exempt, then the books should be available for inspection.

No, After it leaves your hand it is no long yours or your responsibility. God says, Bring your tithes into the storehouse, which is the Local Church. The ones who take care of it from there will have to answer if they miss use it, not you. You are to obey God, and they should be obeying God, by using His money wisely, if not, like I say, they will have to account for the miss using of it not you. And you should help feed the poor too, this would be part of your offering ,not your tithe, which is 10%. And remember you CANNOT out give God. try it and see what happens

i completely agree, what happens to the money people donate, well you just have to look at the Vatican City, at the moment there are about six priests awaiting extradition for child molesting charges that your funds are helping to stay hidden within the city!!! St Peters Basilica is made of solid gold and silver, how much money is tied up in that it would prob feed a small community!!! Every religious see is run as a business with the bishops as ceo's . Catholicism, protestantism and all other ism's are multi million pound corporations and just like any other corporation the first order of business is profit.
if i were you i would give straight to the poor organizations that help keep the poor and needy in food and shelter, or refuges for abused wives and their children. these people are the ones who really need the money and your help, if you did not want to donate money you could even volunteer to run charity shops or help at the homeless shelters serving food someone has to do it and you will see the benefits with your own eyes. This is better than feeding the fat cat bureaucrats!!!!!

I think it would be fine. I've been trying to get my parents to give their tithe to support a missionary instead of giving it to the church because my church has LOADS of money, enough to have brand new decorations in every room, multiple gigantic TVs, a playsation, a computer (randomly for everyone to use), and a lot of other not needed stuff. I think if my family gave our money to support a missionary, it would do a lot more good.

I have had this same trouble. I really think we have a Loving God, in Scripture the Lord literally says He did not know a few who claimed to be His, because when He was hungry no one fed Him, when He was Naked no one clothed Him, I believe it was the Beatitudes where this comes from...Anyways He continues to say, "What we have done unto the least of them we have done unto Him!" Another words, I think the Lord wants us to give to the Poor, Hungry or where ever one NEEDS the Help.
With that said, we are truly talking a whole different Ball Game as compared to Other Charities. We are instructed to give 10% of all our Earnnings, and then Tithe.
I think those who are Greedy when it comes to giving to the Church or any where else, need to remember EVERY penny Belongs to God. .....That is WHY we should give what He has instructed us to give. It is Discipline to Obey His Rules... So to answer your question, if the Lord leads you to give to the POOR please, listen to the Holy Spirit, as He is Never wrong...Great Question by the way and God Bless.....

Awesome question because I am sooooo going through this right now! I absolutely hate the way my church spends its money. Seems everyone on staff gets their bite and God gets none.....ok I won't vent here. I keep reminding myself though I am not "giving to the church" I am giving to God and if they are spending the money wrong they will be held accountable not me. I would much rather give to the poor but God keeps telling me otherwise. Grrrr. Sometimes it is so hard to do the right thing! But praise be to God and I will do His will anyway.

No. a number of a guy or woman's tithe grew to become into to obtain to widows and fatherless. there is not something written approximately giving any of the tithe to the undesirable. those with vegetation have been commanded to not glean the corners of their fields; to circulate away that for the undesirable to circulate out and %. for themselves. In different words, the undesirable had to circulate out and convey at the same time the meals themselves. think of approximately it... BTW: The tithe grew to become into by no skill "money" as you mean. Tithes have been the 10th of the upward push of produce and farm animals. .

your thithe goes to pay several different things in your church including, but not limited to, your pastor's salary, support staff salary, electricity/sewer etc..., it is used for the upkeep and the day to day running of your church as it is supposed to. If you feed the poor it will please God but that would be considered second mile giving not tithing. If you're still confused then contact your pastor and the pastor of another denomination or two and see what they have to say

You'd be much wiser to give that way. Tithing is unbiblical and in this day and age, there are nearly no churches that I would trust with my money.

If your a member of that church you have every right to asked them about how the money is spent.Try to remain open to what they might have to say, and share your thoughts on how the money should be spent.
At my church, Assembly of God we put the money in a envelope and can designate what we want the money spent on.Any reasonable request would be honored there.
Good communication is usually the key to all our problems.
God Bless and thanks for giving to the Lord.
