Oh please love - give me a break with your its a "necessity". Whilst you are completely right about the risk of farmers not hitting an animal correctly when shooting them, but this is few and far between - you are under a fantastic illusion if you think that its a "sport". Do you honestly think that its HUMANE for an innocent animal to be chased for miles by several hounds and horses - putting unbelieveable strain on their little heart and lungs? Then when caught by hounds to have their flesh pulled open and torn in several different ways by the hounds? And as for humane - I dont see WHAT there is to brag by these stupid fat huntsmen detailing a fox and brandishing their tail as a trophey. As an acomplished horsewoman I support every angle of horsemanship EXCEPT foxhunting. Whilst i appreciate the buzz of galloping horses and hounds across country - I would recommend you take up draghunting - its the exact same but without the cruelty. Harecoursing was banned due to the cruelty of it - can you explain the difference between a hare being chased and torn apart by dogs and a fox being chased and torn apart by dogs? And before anyone gets smart - I know a hare and fox are different animals!!! You talk about the ignorance of people in here - well YOU sound the most ignorant of all - actually believing foxhunting is HUMANE. Get a life you sad sad murderer

So foxes kill your domestic animals and you want to eliminate the problem. That's understandable. Natually you will want to kill the maximum number of foxes in any given period of time, yes? Get rid of as many of them as possible as quickly as possible with as little time and effort as necessary. What is the maximum number of foxes that could be killed per hour using the most efficient techniques available? 10 per hour? 20 per hour? 50 per hour? Great - go for it. Eliminate the little bugg4rs.
But what do you do? You utilise about 10 humans, 10 horses, and 20 dogs and take about 30 minutes to kill one little fox. Do you think that is efficient? In one morning's hunt how many foxes do you kill?
Namby pamby little children aren't you. Aw you just HAVE to have your little play with your toys. Blow your little horn and see your doggies chase the foxies. And while you are killing one little fox the other 49 foxes which you could have killed at the same time had you been using a more efficient method are killing lambs and chicken in the neighbouring farms.
Dumb, stupid fools. Grow up & do what's needed instead of sacrificing efficiency and livestock for the sake of your stupid games.
The law is set in the UK anyway. Fox hunting is banned & there ain't nothing you morons can do about it.

Yes, there are a lot of more efficient ways in which to cull foxes. It is just an excuse to pounce about the countryside on a horse. It is a show of money, as horses are expensive to own and keep.

well fox hunting is cruel if u do it the traditional way with dogs but if you do it with a shot gun its just like hunting any other animal (i personally would never shoot a fox but its better than attacking it with dogs.

Firstly use the spell checker. Its difficult to engage you in a question/answer conversation when your spelling and grammar is appalling.
As for my view on fox hunting, simple the fox is a natural born killer and needs to be kept under control. Shooting is the best method at night using a lamp and a rifle fitted with a moderator.
It's not a pretty sight looking into a hen coup with corpses aplenty, heads bitten off, others with broken necks having flown into the wire mesh.
Lambs with heads chewed off not just one for food but 5 or 6 for sport.
Good riddance Raynard

Fox are vile little killers that will kill small livestock, poultry, house cats and small dogs.
I have seen the results of 'a fox in the hen house' and trust me, animals kill just to kill, for fun and for sport. Anyone who thinks different is a fool.
If fox are endangered, they need to be protected. If they are populous, then by all means they should be hunted. They are vermin that threaten humans domestic animals.
As to English Fox hunting, as long as the fox are not endangered, by all means go for it.
Nothing is as foolish as a urban armchair "animal lover" who "feels sorry" for animals being killed like some naive little girl.
Nature is cruel, death is a part of life and man is part of nature, a carnivorous predator. Don't try and rewrite a million years of nature to fit your small-minded Disney cartoon view of things.

foxes were brought to Australia for game hunting. I think they should be hunted. They kill lamb, cat, chicken est. Every lamb killed by a fox is like throwing away money to farmers. They should be hunted.

Yes, chasing a terrified animal with an army of creatures larger than itself, then tearing it apart while it is still alive is cruel. In nature no predator would put its prey to this level of torment. This human way of "culling" foxes is not meant to just reduce the fox population but rather to get a big kick out of seeing it suffer.
If you want to cull then why not do it humanely making it as painless as possible for the animal?

I really want to know why you people think its horrible. They are a ball of mange and dirt, kill cats, little dogs and chickens. They are good fun to hunt at night with a shotgun and a spotlight. You can get up to $40 for a fox pelt in the winter too. Anyone who thinks fox hunting is horribel, e-mail me and i will gladly prove you wrong!

Depends on if you are hunting them like in England or just out blasting a few that are raiding your hen houses. Their tails look cool on the pickup BTW.
