Im a christian and this what i've always noticed. Some Christians have labeled atheists as evil, stupid, devil-worshippers, or morally void. Though there may be some atheists who fit these categories (as would many in the general population), atheists are not categorically evil, stupid, devil-worshipping degenerates with no morals. Many of them are fine citizens, honest, caring, loving, and patient. For a Christian, or anyone for that matter, to make a blanket statement about atheists in a derogatory manner is wrong. It is the same thing atheists sometimes do when they accuse Christians of being irrational, psychotic, or stupid. Such accusations have no place on either side of the argument of truth. But will these labels ever disappear?

Chrislims HAVE to believe that we are stupid, evil, devoid etc.
It says in their book that the rest if us are wrong, evil etc.
So this is a fallacy to expect people not to react to that.
Any of them that do *not* believe what their Book says, and ignore it and accept us agnostics, atheists, gays, those of other or no faiths etc,
are *not* following their instruction manual. At this point they have to stop accepting others and learn to cull us names and shun us/pity us again, otherwise they see themselves on a slippery slope of Losing Faith (satan working through us again!!)
That's like saying not all racial supremacists are racist, and that some of them graciously accept people of all races to be equal and worthy of respect as individuals.
It just doesn't make sense. If there were some racial supremacists that weren't racist, then that would be an impossibility. If a Christian doesn't demonize homosexuality and unbelievers (for instance) how can they still be a Christian?
Non-Christian people didn't call themselves barbarians, savages, unclean, demons etc until invading Christians 'put them in their place.'
I didn't label me, but Christians and Muslims labelled both me AND themselves. I'm sure there are many more cults and religions that demonize others, but I am concerned with the Chrislims who live around and with me, they are the ones I live and work with, and the most populous.

To answer your question: Most likely not. People generally like to label what they don't understand or agree with as 'evil' or 'bad'.
Thank you for being one of the christians who doesn't automatically label every atheist as morally void.

There will always be people who will be 100% sure of their theories and consider everyone who thinks otherwise, as stupid. It's not always about christians or atheists, it happens to representants of every religion (some people here have something particularry about muslims too). Most people insulting others don't even know a lot about what they insult

A brief glance through the past few hundred posts on YQA RS reveals petty name-calling, both overt, and subtle, is a favorite pastime of RS users.
Amazingly, most of name calling that gets done contains enough truth to sting the other side when it splatters against their screens.
We're plenty perceptive enough to recognize stupidity, racism, bigotry, in folk who disagree with us. And fortunately, they're perceptive enough to recognize ours.
Each side could politely not point out what they see, as one alternative. But the fact that what both sides see is true probably makes it worth saying, on occasion.

There is a little thing that mathematicians and scientists recognise called a "trend".
It implies that while the statement "All of X is Y" is false in some circumstances, the alternative statement "Most of X is Y" is true... and the X that aren't Y are the anomalous results, as one gets when there is an element of luck involved (always).
Since I have clarified that, I will then state in no uncertain terms:
MOST christians are stupid.
"Stupid" is a relative term... therefore I shall define it further:
Most christians are stupid relative to athiests.
Or better still:
Most christians are stupid relative to me.
(Then again: "Most people are stupid relative to me" is also true.)
O'course.... if christians want to call athiests.... or me (I'm a Hui-Qu'ist... or Nihilist/Taoist cross) evil..... then I couldn't care less. Unlike some people I don't consider it particularly offensive provided it is within my capacity to completely ignore them like the irrelevant little filth-stains they are. As such they are free to label me however they wish.
Of course if they actively interfere with my life, I will remedy their hinderance however I see fit..... without remorse.

I don't know, maybe it is a fear of the unknown. If they can stick a label on you, then there is the description that goes with that label, so then they think they have you tagged and know what you are like. Yes I think all sides are guilty of it, conciously or subconciously.

Good point
The name Christian was given to them by their enemy I ask you this, would you keep a name your enemy gave you? That's how lost that is!
As for the atheist, well its the wrong word to use, they can choose what they like so I call them "Choosers" not believers or followers but those who Choose and that is just fine with Allah SWT and his Messenger and anyone that follows.
So Al Hamdoullah Rub Alameen
we pray for peace and we require it!

*Star* I doubt they'll disappear, but thank you for putting this out here tonight. A lot of people are intolerant of others, and it really stinks. Then they generalize and it gets even worse-- there are good and bad people in every religion, and I'm glad you see that.

Very good point, thanks, but unfortunately I don't think the labeling and name calling will stop and not just concerning atheists and Christians but all matters in general.
