Because I knew she was a follower of Jesus, and she was to be stoned to death (but was ultimately saved).

Magdeline was a close friend an confidante of Christ who arose from the oldest profession in the world to a spiritual adjunct on a par with the apostles.

Her role was that of witness to the resurrection of Christ and an prime example of the forgiveness of sin.

I think she was a friend of Jesus' mother. It is Mary Magdalene. She plays a part in Christianity. She was a firm believer to the very end of Jesus' life here on earth. Have a blessed day!

In the Christian religion....she is seen as a woman who was close to Jesus....in one of the gnostic books it says JEsus often kissed her on the *blank*.....there is a hole there so we don't know WHERE he kissed her...

Anyway, it was earlier thought that the prostitute mentioned before Mary WAS Mary...but the Vatican retracted that...

Many people believe Jesus to have a bloodline and Mary was his wife.

-----------------

No....Mary was not the prostitute....she was not the one Jesus saved from the stoning.

Mary Magdalene is quite popular in the christian religion because Jesus prophecied it. He said she will be mentioned wherever the gospel was preached. She was the first person to see the risen Jesus. Mk16:9

The significance of her presence in the Bible is that she was forgiven by Christ, even though she was considered an unclean soul, because of her prostitution. Then she totally transformed and followed Christ. She was amazed that he would forgive (even her) her, and love her. He was able to look beyond the sin and into the heart of the person.
