In my part of the world, they do not show nascar races anymore so i havent really watched a full race since 1998. I watch a few clips on youtube recently, and i noticed that nascar commentators are boring as hell. In the race in canada, all hell was breaking loose, there were cars spinning and overtaking during the yellow flag. The commentators, if anything, talked even slower.
Someone said that it was espn's nascar coverage crew that were boring but all the races commentary are all the same, it all sounds like some announcement on c-span or something..
what do you think?

As a hardcore F1 fan, i would just like to say that the idiot bombarding this section with all those negative comments about nascar is not a regular over at the f1 section. So don't hate on the rest of us because of the comments of one idiot...

I agree !
With the exception of FOX coverage. It's the best to me.
And D.W. makes it exciting...
Try listening to it on the radio..the announcers on there are a lot better than the ones on TV. They are having to paint the picture so you can see it through their voice..
I listen on the radio when I'm not at home or when the Dish goes out. It's much more exciting than watching the race and having to listen to announcers that know nothing about NASCAR !
Someone on here asked if anyone had tried listening to the radio announcers while watching the race on ESPN...
Said it was great...
And now..you have my 2 cents worth.
Hope it anwers your question.

FOX is by far the better of the networks. I like Allen Bestwick on ESPN, but he is the only one. He has made his rounds tho with the other networks. DW makes FOX really worth watching and they know their stuff. The other networks always refer to some other sport in comparison to NASCAR, ie: basketball on Sunday's race. MRN and PRN (radio) are both good, you can really feel what is going on when they commentate.
I'm sorry that you only get to watch clips, nothing compares to the whole thing. Hopefully you get them back soon.

ESPN is so boring I turn the volume off and listen to it on the radio instead
I like the commentators from all the other channels, with Fox being my favorite.
I am really surprised with ESPN being so good for so many sports that they have just plain sucked for Nascar.

i agree. tnt isn't the same anymore like it has been for the last couple of years and espn is dull. they try to make up for their horrible announcers by having the feature of showing the draft which isn't cool and i know what the draft is already so i don't need them telling me what it is. FOX is by far the best. their announcers actually get into the races while espn and tnt are boring and it seems like they haven't slept for about 3 days.

I agree, the ESPN guys are pretty boring. But DW does make it interesting on FOX and TNT isn't the same without Benny Parsons. But the ESPN coverage is so subpar it's laughable.
And don't worry I think most of us know the person calling themselves "Formula One" isn't really interested in anything other than causing trouble.

I agree. Since there's different stations to compare to, ESPN's crew isn't as colorful as DW and the other guy's.
DW will be back when it go's to ABC for the last ten races starting on September 16th at Louden, New Hampshire.

The NASCAR commentators on ESPN are really boring. Rusty Wallace refers to his son as "Stephen Wallace"- I mean seriously! I do like the commentators on FOX though, DW cracks me up!

I think Kyle Petty will be a good commentator, given the races he has been in the booth for this season... as for the ESPN commentators, they're a joke...
