My rear lights on my car (just drivers side) have been smashed in, can I still legally drive until fixed?

Just remember other vehicles have to see you and when there is a broken brake light you could get a warning to get it fixed. If you get the light fixed I would think you can drive you vehicle. Otherwise wait until the light is fixed. It does't matter what side of your car. You said the driver's side the drivers side is left.
Don't wait too long
You will have to use hand signals when turning.
all signalling by hand is done with the left hand.

There are laws. The law says that your rear brake lights and signal lights must be working. I have seen where people have taped red plastic over the broken lens until it's fixed, but if the light isn't working you are taking your chances of getting a fine. Use your hand signals until it's fixed, and I hope it's soon. Wouldn't it irritate you if the driver ahead of you had a broken brake/signal light? Someone else may even report you to the authorities. Get it fixed soon!
