USA TODAY's Susan Page reports that President Bush is making some headway in arguing that the increase in U.S. troops in Iraq is showing military progress. In the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, taken Friday through Sunday, the proportion of those who said the additional troops are "making the situation better" rose to 31% from 22% a month ago.

yes the surge is working, many us soldiers are surging into coffins at alarming rates, others have noticed a limb or two has surged off, some children find their fathers have surged off for more tours then they bargained for. still others find brain has suffered a surge from ied attacks.

now that the pentagoons are arming the people you are fighting, perhaps more of your soldiers will surge into coffins. when will the Americans hold your treasonous leaders to account, and stand up, of have you become to docile.

its time to end imperialist resource wars, embrace peace, and not occupy one another.

It is amusing that the news media is using polls instead of listening to the military commanders.

The news media has a problem right now - the truth is leaking out of Iraq and they are desperately trying to pretend that our success are not occurring.

The whole world knows that the troops in Iraq are suffering and the Americans will expect more deaths of their troops. The situation in Iraq is not getting any better and by increasing the number of troops will only strengthen the resolution amongst the Iraqis insurgents furthermore. Bush's administration is ailing and to increase the troops will only further displaying their senility.

Well, a poll is a poll... What I will wait for is reports from ground commanders.

We SHOULD have sent in alot more troops from the beginning... but Rummy wouldn't listen.

Now we do what the military does best... WAIT.

Are you talking about the third of weapons given to Iraqi forces as actually working?

Polls can say anything that the person doing them what to say. They can be skewed to show anything.

And as far as anything that Bush says, he means the direct opposite. For instance...wanting Bin Laden dead or alive and then a year later saying he is not concerned about him any more. WMD. Firing who ever was involved in leaking Plames name. Actually providing security for the USA while the border is totally open. I could go on but I don't have time to do so.

I don't think the surge is working as well as they would like.
In order to see some real progress, we need an additional 100,000 troops in place. But most people would disagree, but that is the only way to control this chaos. We need to go back to the Powell doctrine: shock and awe!

I would only hope America sees. As it has been said many times. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE ...
We have no choice but to see this to the end. It will cost American lives for sure. No one wants that, but unfortunately there is no other way. Anyone that thinks we can leave Iraq and not affect us sometime in the future is living in a dream world. The militants are an intelligent, patient group. Sooner or later they will strike somewhere in the U. S.
