i am cutting ma hair for school this year. I am cutting it kinda short like halley berry used to have her hair. At first the idea of cutting ma hair that short was nerve recking. i didn't want to do it. But after seeing a couple of people on America's next top model with that hair style i figured it would look cute. But as school time reaches near i am not sure i want to cut it anymore. I feel i will be made fun of, or people won't like it, or i will look funny. How can i get over being self conscious.

I totally sympathise with you!
About 6 months again i had really long hair (like down to the middle of my back!) id been growing it really long especially for my prom.
However my hair wasnt in that great condition and was kinda frizzy, also as i realise now it made me look about 12! (what with being 17 thats not so great!)
I went to the hairdressers and on a whim asked hr to cut it really short, in the 'pob' style! as she wa doing it i suddenyl realised what id asked her to do and really started dreading it!! would i look like an idiot? what would people at college say??
But after it was done i absolutly loved it!! t makes me look older and people come up and ask me where i got my hair done!
I would totally go for it, im sure it would look great, and if it doesnt then it will grow back quickly because when you cut your hair really short it grows back quicker! good luck!

Poor you! I've always had long hair and now, at ten years old, I refuse to let it be cut! Some people look absolutely brilliant with short hair and, hey! Maybe your one of those! For me short hair isn't the right style, but maybe it is right for you! I completely understand that you're nervous! By the way, could I possibly ask how old you are? The younger the more teasing unfortunately :(. You'll never know what It'll look like unless you try, so I say Go for it girl! Even I'm gonna risk cutting my hair short one day! If girls (or even boys!) are bitchy ignore them. Don't through insults back, that'll make them even more nasty! Get your friends to look after you! That is, partly, what they're for! So stop worrying about, but do make sure the hairdresser knows what she's doing - don't want any mistakes! Tell me if this works out for you.

I can sympathize for you. It's really good to have a new look for a new school year. I'd completely go for it if you're willing to think of yourself in a better light. What people think about you, especially your hair shouldn't really apply. I used to have very, very long hair last summer and before the new school season started I cut it almost boy-short Halley Berry like. Of course, people get shocked at first, especially people that you know, but over time it should come to pass, and people will get used to it, and it will eventually grow back, and fast-and you won't have any split ends (or at least you shouldn't). Besides, if people (especially girls) decide to rep on you about it, just tell them that that's what they do on America's Next Top Model, and they're experts.

But just to add, if you're uncertain try to imagine yourself with shorter hair, to see if it'd really look good with your face, such as your bone structure or eyes (depending on bangs or not).

So you have to cut it...look through magazines and try and see hairstyles you like, and when you do get it cut just try a be friendly and confident in school and it shouldn't make a difference to anyone.
