The answer to contact the LAPD is the best choice. I didn't check, but I am sure they have a web site that will provide valuable info for you. It also will have a phone number for direct contact.

I don't think it would be very easy.
In order to apply you need to be a US resident and hold a valid Green Card. You need to get that first and have lived and worked there for a while. Depends how old you are. If you are young enough you could join the US Army and gain a green card that way. Also, focus on the Military Police. It would open many doors to US law enforcement.
A Brit :)

Why? Is my question to you. You'll end up in a bag in LA. It's full of crack heads and Hollywood junkies. It's not like Hill Street Blues or CHIPS you know. Guns are rife and the Americans are stupid despite their publicity to prove otherwise.
You'd be safer patrolling the streets of Rio De Janeiro.

As everyone says you need a Green Card.
Best going to the USA getting a work visa for a year, then apply for your Green Card and the citizenship.
You'd be better off going for the Toronto Police, would be easier to get in.
