unlike tattooing, I certainly do not have a portfolio to bring in, so how would I go about apprentinceship to pierce short of walking into a tattoo shop and saying, "Hi, I want to learn" ?

That's what you have to do.
Go in there, be a little dressed up, and be very respectful.
Ask to speak to the owner, and if they aren't in ask to speak to the head piercer. (head as in like the boss) Express your interest in learning. It helps if you've taken the initiative to take classes in bloodborne pathogens and cpr beforehand. It shows that you are really serious. If you don't get the first apprenticeship keep trying. I had to go to about 10 shops before I found one that was accepting apprenticeships.

Good Luck!!

I agree with Olivia. But I would also bring with you a resume and cover letter. It may "throw off" the tattoo shop owner because most will not expect it, but they will be very impressed that you took the time to write one up for them.

my sister wanted to get into tattooing, she went to see a tattooist he told her there is hardly any tattooists that would take on an apprentice for piercing or tattooing anywhere so good luck if u find anywhere but it will be hardwork to find and very limited.

At sixteen in case you have identity at the same time with a passport you are able to legally get any piercing which includes nipple and genital piercings. you do not choose your mom and dad with you. in fact in basic terms nipple and genital piercings have an age limit in the united kingdom and that age is sixteen. To get a tattoo you are able to desire to be 18. an identical criminal age shrink as for alcohol, hardcore pornography and tobacco. purely like with procuring alcohol, porn or tobacco the criminal age shrink isn't altered with the aid of having a your discern (or perhaps each residing member of your loved ones, 3 hundred buddies and the Pope) with you.

i think that's basically exactly what you have to do... build up a good relationship with your shop of choice, and hope you're lucky. there isn't any training outside a shop that's recognised or, as far as i'm aware, any good - i guess good luck!!
