I agree with Bigdogrex. Not only report him up the chain, but if they don't act, or at least investigate the ole sarge, then report it to the USPS. Everyone that handles mail is acting as an agent of the USPS, and therefore have to abide by their FEDERAL rules. If he withheld mail just to do it, be evil, or for ANY reason that wasn't legitimate, then ole sarge violated federal law.

During early stages of the war, I was sent to the middle east to work logistics. We processed and pushed so much cargo forward until there wasn't any room on the aircraft for mail. Mission critical parts/supplies to include meds got priority. The mail backed up to the point we had almost 200K lbs. sitting anywhere and everywhere it would fit. We had to beg and plead for extra aircraft just to relieve the mail overload. THIS is a legitimate reason. Held up due to lack of transportation. This was about 3 weeks to month.

Most of the answers here are good ones--- i agree that more likely than not, it was a legit reason-- something happened that backed it up-- it wasnt just "withheld" My bet is that your "boyfriend" is probably, to stereotype, between E-1 and E-3, maybe E-4- doubt it, and is misconstruing whats going on as they tend to do. Also remember that if something did happen and the Sergeant is at fault, there is nothing YOU can do, the Army does not recognize girlfriends or fiances-- only lawfully wedded wives, and so any action through his chain of command would have to be taken by him. And surely as they have sensing sessions with the Battalion CSM (Command Sergeant Major) and 1SG (company First Sergeant) as well as the open door policy (mandatory)the odds of wrong doing are slim, although mission dictated delays could have some part to play; especially if Op-Sec violations have been occurring or if people, most likely, were shipping alcohol or other prohibited items which required additional handling/scanning/inspection of all inbound mail.

There is a punishment for willfully witholding mail without authorization from the proper authority.

And lastly, who are you to call a service member an asshole? Another typical ill-educated "girlfriend" of a servicemember like so many I have dealt with as a leader and Non-Commissioned Officer in the Army, who thinks they are entitled or are owed something by service members just because they date someone in uniform?Probably. Let me educate you. You are owed no special treatment, which I would peg you to think you deserve by the tone of your post. And you could stand to learn a little from the proud and dignified- not selfrightous military spouses scattered across the United States.

It is like that in any war when i was in iraq it was the same troops move an the mail falls behind it will get to the troops it might take a month but he will get it,an if the sarg is doing this just to be doing it your boyfriend needs to go up the chain of command to report it.

First you and your "boyfriend" have to back up your claims.
