Walkers are not necessary for your baby to learn how to walk, so why waste the money? When babies are ready to start walking, they will pull themselves up to standing using the couch or coffee table or anything else they can find. Walkers can be dangerous, too. Not just for the baby (going down stairs or tipping on uneven surfaces), but for you as well. Have you ever had your bare feet run over by a baby hauling butt in one of those things? Man! It really hurts!!

My son was 4 1/2 months and in his walker. He's 5 months old now and he only can push backwards so far though. People say walkers are bad but my oldest son was in a walker and he walked at 10 months old with NO hip issues. My niece's have used them and have had NO issues either. I have yet to meet a baby that has been affected from using a walker. As far as the exersaucer and such I put my kids in them as soon as they got good head control. Like 4 months old.

My kids used it occasionally from 4 months to 10 months old. By 10 months they walked independently. 85% of walker injuries come from the stairs. There have been babies that grabbed electrical cords with irons and electrical frying pans falling on them. Keep anything hazardous out of baby's reach with or without a walker.
Crawling is the best exercise for older infants because it works all the major muscle groups. The exersaucer, baby jumper and walker don't exercise the hip and torso muscles enough. Walkers are more for entertaining and don't actually teach walking. Don't overuse any of those baby products because it can delay walking.
Walkers become dangerous when parents don't use common sense. The baby bath seat is the second most common dangerous baby product. Do you want to know why? Because parents think it's OK to leave the bathroom while baby is in bath seat. Baby drowns and parents learn that it was a bad idea to leave the baby alone in the the bath seat. And don't get me started on all those grocery cart injuries...
These products aren't what is so dangerous. The parents lack of common sense poses the greatest danger to his/her kid with or without a product involved. If any kind of product is involved when there is an injury then we must blame the product rather than the parent. That's the "in" thing nowadays.

I put my daughter in one from about 8 months old, saying that though I did find it a waste of money as she only used it a few times. She did love being in it but once she could crawl that took over as she could only go backwards in the baby walker. If I had another child I wouldn't bother with one

You probably won't be able to find a walker. They say that they're not safe for baby. But as far as your baby walking... he/she will walk when he/she is ready. No need to rush things. They're only babies once. Enjoy not having a baby that can walk right now... because before you know it he/she will be up and goin all the time.

We had a baby bouncer which hung from a door frame and allowed the infant to practice putting weight on their legs without being insecure. The fact that an adult was always present during use made it completely safe, yet it didn't detract from the independence the child would feel by doing something for themselves.
As with all things of this nature - never leave a child unattended, even for one second!

about 6 months, i don't use a baby walker as i think its better getting them to learn on there own how to stand and cruise along the sofa,
also if you have a rug pick it up as the walker can topple over it

Hello!
I had my Little Boo Boo In a walker at about 5 months - 6 months!!
Just go with your instincts...every Baby is different....
All the Best x
(edit) I didn't know baby walkers were dangerous?????
(edit) Oh my god, I've never heard of any of this talk about baby walkers before! Im shocked.....What will the world come to next........ Will 'Blinking' be dangerous next!!!!!!
I just read on a site that giving your baby a walker is like giving a teenager a ferrari....Hmmmmmmm, not to convinced on that one. Thats a little exagerated
When my little Boo had a walker he was allowed in the Living room.......ONLY, i never allowed him in Kitchen with Hot water & Boiling pots.....Who WOULD put their baby in a kitchen in a walker with hot substances!!!!!!
I just read on here about times where babies have fallen downstairs in walkers! Who would put their baby in a walker upstairs with no Stair Guard??
I think Baby Walkers have been given a bad name for other peoples STUPIDITY!!
