It sounds more like chicken pox than infection. The infection your doctor mentioned is likely to be impetigo, which causes small blisters which spread very quickly and need treating with antibiotics and cream. If your doctor thought it was infection, why didn't he prescribe something for it? This sounds odd to me. I would change doctors. He seems to have left you confused, which is not doing his job.
If it's chicken pox (which it sounds like, especially the fever), keep doing what you are doing, and give daily warm baths with bicarbonate of soda in. Just buy the regular stuff you use for baking from the shop and tip plenty in the water (nothing else in the water but that). This eases itching, soothes the pox, and helps dry them out to speed up the healing process. Calamine lotion at other times is also good for treating the blisters. Apply with cotton wool dabbing gently.
Keep an eye on him. The blisters will continue to appear for a few days, then will start to heal. I would double check with another doctor though, just to be sure that it is chicken pox, and not something else. Find out if any other children are suffering that you have been in contact with. This is the only way he will have picked it up.

As a human biology instructor, if his symptoms are worsening by the day and you do not have an appointment until next week I would consider taking him in earlier. It could be anything from a pinched nerve, involuntary reflex, behavioral or more serious. I would not wait, especially if he seems uncomfortable (night). I am not sure what your health insurance is like, but I am of the "run all the tests" philosophy. I would not be happy with a"he's fine" diagnosis without serious information backing it up. You know your son better than anyone, listen to your gut and do not be afraid to have a test or 2 if the doctors want to check him. Being in science, I wold rather have the info and tests, at least you will have a baseline for him later in his life!

If it were chicken pox it would only be little water type blisters, not boils. You should get your child medical attention ASAP in case it is something more dangerous than that. It's better to be safe than sorry.

To me it sounds like sun poisoning, but chicken pox is normally red, not clear.
I'd try to get a second opinion if it doesn't get better.

why is it that you need a licence to operate a motor vehicle but any congenital moron can have a baby? grab a brain or even a half of one and get a second opinion from a doctor who specializes in human beings, a MEDICAL DOCTOR. how are you ever going to face your child, assuming that it lives that long, and admit that you sought answers to its medical problems in a forum populated exclusively by the sub-mediocre? at least try google for Gods sake . . . or no STOP, that would necessitate you attemtp to reason and we already see how that will turn out.perhaps your child can benefit from leeching, i understand the procedure to be well established and quite effective
