took her in and we got her to a healthy wait and has gotten all of her shots. Unfortunately they couldnt tell us what age she was. She now is pregnant and we dont know her past and she has been pregnant for 6 weeks. He nipples are filled with milk and you can feel the puppies move and she breathes really heavily for the past couple of weeks. She is ready to burst. Seriously i dont think she can hold anymore and she cant even jump up on the couch anymore either. Can you tell me when she should be having the puppies and what are signs we should look out for when she goes into labor?

Why didn't you get her fixed,or was she already pregnant when you got her? If she has been pregnant for 6 weeks, then she has 3 weeks left until she has the pups,You should probably take her back to the vet for an x-ray to see how many pups there are,and if she will be able to deliver them naturally,or need a Cesarean.

Thank you for rescuing this gal!

As your dog sounds pretty close to delivering, it's a good idea to take her temperature twice a day. Usually a dog's temp will drop to around 98 degrees 12 to 24 hours before it gives birth (whelps) to its first pup.

When its labor starts you may see panting, pacing, and "nest building" behaviors (sraping up towels and blankets in an attempt to make a nest).

During hard larbor, when the contractions get very strong, the dog may grunt, hunch over, and groan with each contraction. You'll see the puppy as a bulge between the dog's anus and vagina right before it's born. Some dogs make a lot a noise when the pups are born, other dogs are totally quiet.

Depending on the size of the litter, whelping may take 6 to 18+ hours to be completed.

Good luck!
